Trying to find a graphics card.

Hey guys. I'm looking to replace my old graphics card and I'm hoping to get a considerable boost to performance in games with it. I have at least £100 to spend but I could potentially push that up to £150. My question is which is the best card I could get at this price range. And is spending the additional £50 going to make the results significantly worth the extra money spent. Or would it be better to just spend £100 and leave it at that.

If its worthy of mention, currently I have a Intel Dual core 2.6ghz, 4gb ram, and an OCUK 9800 graphics card. Games don't run that amazingly so I'm thinking a card upgrade would gain a lot.

Thanks very much in advance.

This is the PSU

Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046)

I'd have no idea how to overclock my CPU but right now I feel its my card holding me back. So as long as I would gain performance increases with this card above what I currently experience then I could always upgrade my CPU in January.

Do you think that it would give me much more? Or could the CPU be holding back right now as well.

upgrading your memory to 8gb and a 64bit os would help too but the only way is to test as it is with the new card and see how it performs

im using a 7850 with a h55 board i3 540 cpu and it copes verywell in games, cpu is at stock too

Yeah I want to upgrade my memory also. But for now with limited money I feel like I'd gain the most from the card. I like the look of the 7850 and think I will go with that. Two quick questions though: Will I have any problems with the PSU and MB I listed? And what makes the HIS 7850 different from the others? From say MSI or ASUS for example.

idk,i have two msi twin frozr 3 7850's and they are good cards, quiet and 3 year warranties

it will deff improve gaming as your system stands

ohh psu im not sure,i think amd recommend 500w min but i cant see it causing trouble, they only need one 6pin power plug

post back the results though, should be a huge improvement over what you have now,be sure to install the latest beta drivers and caps on amd website, they push performance even further

what ports do you have/use?

you can use a hdmi to dvi adaptor cable, not sure if it comes with one or you have to buy one

they might do display port to hdmi or dvi cable aswell

If I could use hdmi to hdmi on my monitor without issues and dvi to my tv then I wouldn't have issues. Right now I run a two vga cables with dvi adaptors from the card. Not ideal...
