Trying to fold on 4 cores

There are a few running projects on the GPU client right now, but only 3 point values for the different projects. Figures from an overclocked 9800GX2: 353 point WU (6099PPD), 384 (5266PPD) and 511 (3940PPD). As you can see, the higher scoring WU's almost chop the PPD output in half.

Oh right, thanks for that, The current one I am doing is 511 which explains why I am getting less

Hey guys, I'm back again,

I have been folding happily for a few days now and for the last day or 2 fahmon has been showing the status of my smp client as yellow and it has been frozen on 10% with 20h24m to go all day now, but I am still folding away as all 4 cores are at 100%,

Anyone any ideas why this is happening? I can't find anything on google,

Thanks

Are you running the SMP client as a service or a console app? If it's a service, have a look at the log files manually and see if anything is really happening. If it's a console client then look at the console window. I suspect your client has crashed and isn't doing anything except consume CPU power. Restarting the client/service might sort it out but running the SMP client as a service isn't supported anyway.

Looking at the logs it seems it hasn't done anything for a couple of days, and whenever I try to run it as a service I get :

Folding@home Core Shutdown: FILE_IO_ERROR

But it worked fine for a few days, When I kill the service and run the client it runs fine, But Is there a way of minimising the client to the system tray?

There is no way to minimise the SMP client to the system tray, but if you are using xp (dont think you have said) you could try the CMDOW thing from SiriusB's SMP setup guide here:

http://smp.aeternum.co.uk/guide/8 (Near the bottom)

I tried to do this on vista 64 and it didnt work... which was a bit of a shame. If you cannot get it too work, i think there are only two options: 1. Put up with it and 2. Buy a bigger monitor! :D

Unfortunately I am using vista 64 :(

And sorry to keep asking but... Another thing...

I have noticed that since I have been folding that my router has been rebooting around every half an hour and booting me from the net for 10 seconds or so, could this be anything to do with the folding clients or just coincidence?

There's a few of those programs to hide taskbar windows. Try TrayIt, which will reduce the window to an icon in the system tray.

I wouldn't think the router reboots would be Folding, seeing as it doesn't generally access the net that frequently... only one way to find out, though!

The router rebooting could be the cause of your folding problems though, couldnt it? I may be mistaken, but dont a lot of people loose SMP units when their network drops out (due to the loopback that FAH uses...? Im not 100% sure on this... at all! :D). I certainly get this impression by reading some of the folding posts on xtremesystems... FAH gurus, correct me!

This used to be a problem with the WinSMP client as it was constantly checking for LAN access and died if it couldn't find it but this was fixed long ago.
