I have posted on the Vodafone forums - but thought I'd try here.

I have just downloaded Beebplayer on the Desire.
If I attempt to watch an old program, say Outnumbered from yesterday I get "Loading Video" followed by:

Failed
Connection to the server was interrupted. Please check you have a data connection and try again.

If I try Live TV I get the error message:

"Unable to connect to server"

I am attached to my company's Wi-Fi connection.
I can browse the internet and recieve email - so I have a net connection.

A friend of mine has a Nokia 5800 with a "proper" iPlayer app.
That connects, he tried to watch Outnumbered and that worked fine.

Any ideas?
Any other Desire apps I could download and try to prove where the problem might be - if a certain app works then you've definitely got a good connection etc?

I'm not in a 3G area unfortunately.
However, I can get an Edge connection.
With the Edge connection the show was jerky and unwatchable - however it did start playing.
I'm only having a problem with a wi-fi connection which my mate with his 5800 isn't.
Edge connection it does start playing.

It's a Wireless G network using WPA2 security.
I'm connecting to it OK - getting an IP address etc.

Browsing the internet just fine.

However speedtest.net gave me an upload file error.
iPlayer gives errors as above.

Can you suggest any other site to visit to see if it's an issue with wi-fi in general with my Desire?

Beebplayer has never worked for me. Two different wireless networks, both of which show good download and upload with speedtest.net.

I've never tried 3G or Edge.

EDIT: I've just tried 3G and it worked. Back to Wi-Fi and not working again. Both the Wi-Fi networks that fail for me are connected via a Virgin Media cable modem. Perhaps the ISP makes a difference?

Just as a quick update.

Tried on my homw wi-fi network.
Just a standard ADSL connection via Nildram.
Worked first time and without any issue.
So that confirms a working handset and application.

Just strange that my friends Nokia 5800 can connect fine at work, mine can't.
I can only assume it's an App issue - as the Nokia uses a "proper" iPlayer client.

Apparently there will be iPlayer for Android soon enough, so worst case I wait for that :)

could it be that the android player uses different access ports than the official one? Not sure about your works network but ours is locked down. You may get some things to work and not others.
