Basically I'm trying to sort out train or bus tickets to have a day in Camden, the gf has been before but didn't book the tickets.

I'm trying to get there early on the 30th of August and we'll be leaving from Bournemouth. Will take the last train or bus back too.

What's the cheapest way? I've looked at National Express but I don't have a clue which London stops are closest to Camden.

Cheapest day return on the trains looks like £44 per person..

Any recommendations, or things to do?

Cheers.

London Victoria would be the closest coach stop. From there you'll need to get a bus or the tube.

Thanks, I see there's a 'fun fare' too, might get a return the next day and crash at a travel lodge or something. £16 each for the bus. :)

Can these fun fares be booked 2 days before departure? Or is it an advance type thing?

I think it's a case of the earlier you book, the less you pay. Leaving it two days before probably means having to pay full price.

Bmouth to London Waterloo return has come up as £36 for two people for me :/

Then you will have to pay for Northern Line Underground too.. travelcard should be £7/each maybe less might be cheaper to get this on your train ticket included.

i've had a few funfares goin from southampton to liverpool via london an they're normally alright, jus book early because if you leave it 2 days before the prices will be up an coaches will be fully booked

If you have a look on Trainline.com, try booking two single tickets, Bouremouth to London Waterloo return is £18. Make sure you don't miss the train you've booked though, as you'll end up paying the full fare as I found out a couple of weeks ago!

Do this, because travelling by coach is beyond terrible.

It's really not that bad if you get one of the new National Express ones and aren't travelling for more than about 2 1/2 hrs. Any more than that though and I would be getting the train every time.

Get the train into Waterloo / Victoria or wherever your train terminates then get on the Northern Line to Camden Town (it's about 20-25 minutes from those stations). Exit the tube station and literally turn right!

Id recommend staying in the Travelodge. Camden night life is brilliant if you like the rock/indie scene.
