I'm trying to replace my OS (messed up XP) but it keeps booting XP instead.

I have it set to see the CDROM first but then instead of the option to install XP it boots the old version.

I Know I've done it before but can't remeber how.

Theheys It dosn't load setup it just boots xp from the CD and dosn't give me the setup options.

Jas72 If I set it to CD only it still boots XP saying booting from CD.

I know I need to format the drive but I don't have the option and you can't do it in Windows.

Basicly how do I start the installation prosses instead of booting XP.

Cheers.

If your motherboard is set up correctly i.e. boot from disc first, you should hear the CD spin up when you switch on the power and you'll see a line of text which says something like "Press any key to start setup..."

Are you not seeing this?

It sounds like the disc you have is not working. As above you should be asked if you want to boot to the CD.

Are you 100% certain the BIOS is set to boot from CDROM?

Ok I was being totally stupid as usuall, I wan't pressing the key when told to.

I was reading it as only press it if you want to boot xp from cd rarther than install XP.

Thats what having no sleep for two days does to you.

Thanks anyway.
