Hi all,

Iv been given an old RM CL51 Laptop and I was wanting to play around with Linux on it, but iv found I can't boot off anything Iv set the boot priority in the BIOS and yet it still wont boot off CD_ROM, I have also tried enabling mass USB storage and USB legacy support and it wont boot from USB CD-ROM, I have even tried booting from a USB stick and it wont have that either.

I managed to get windows on it briefly by removing the hard disk putting it in another laptop and installing windows, then putting it back in the RM laptop and installing the drivers.

Does anyone know of any other way I can get this stupid laptop to boot off a CD?

Thanks

Craig

thats what I thought but, if windows wont boot off a CD what chance has Linux booting off a CD, also I dont get why a USB CD wont boot

Also make sure the USB is set as FAT32, as I know some PC/laptops dont like booting off an NTFS formatted one. Like above, try looking for the boot menu key instead of using BIOS.

clone that drive to a usb device using something like acronis then clone it onto your drive using the other laptopn?

I have already been through the BIOS and set everything to boot from CD first, when that didnt work I set to boot from USB and enables USB legacy support and mass storage and still nothing

Hi
I too have an RM CL51 - having trouble getting the Windows Drivers - so 1 do you know a good place to get them, RM likes to lock everything down. 2. did you find a version of Linux that had enough drivers to cover everything on the RM CL51 laptop?
