Hey got a DS3-P35, and a E6600. I don't know much about overclocking, but at the minute i've just changed the bus speed to 333 and the multiplier to 7x and its crashing when im trying to boot. Any ideas. Temps are 33degrees and its a hot day. its under 30 when i don't clock it.

What I gather from that thread, which i've read already, is that i need to lower the multiplier and increase the bus speed. But it seems everyone is running 9x multiplyer and over 300 bus speed on E6600's anyway. So what am I doing wrong? I have it at 2.7 GHz at the minute, with 9x multiplyer and 300MHz

Give the fsb 0.1v extra and also bump the cpu volts up a little. Then build up from there.

Post full specs to as it makes it easier for ppl to give help.

Why have you lowered your multi to 7x?

You need to run the 9 x multi and make sure your ram is on the correct ratio.

Read the Ds3 overclocking thread of more of an idea on what to do.

I havn't now, i've raised it. Im on 9x multiplyer and 300 bus. getting 2.7 ghz then using the gigabyte utility to get it to 2.8ghz

what ram r u using. has the board auto its volt lower than rated volts used.

i.e hre 680i blistics 5300. runs on 2.2v board defaults to 1.85.

aint saying thats the problem ** having. it is just 1 of many things it could be. as others have said. take time to ready though the sticky o/c threads. start changing stuff to find whats giving u problems.

main 3. is it temps/volts/ram setting. if all turn out to be no and kit is good for overclocking . see if theres some bios setting that others have changed.

without spec's of the rig ppl cant really say what u should aim for. thats after looking for overclocking threads with kit u have. state u have tryed from these threads and still having probs.

theres also have u been lucky with bits. some are better than others.

it may seem i'm having a go, i aint.

I'd stay away from whatever utility you're using to overclock your CPU, it's best to do it all in the BIOS. Keep the 9x multiplier, as others have said. What other settings have you changed in the BIOS?
