Hi,

I've looked through a few threads so I hope this problem hasn't already been posted. It's a bit strange... Everything runs fine, and when I go into the BIOS and overclock using settings that i've researched all over the place it works fine. My E6750 runs stable at 3.2GHz etc, but when I turn my PC off then later back on again it starts up then turns off, resets all my BIOS settings, and then starts up properly.

Is there a setting i'm missing? I've read as many threads as I can and can't see anything about this problem. It isn't like it's unstable because it runs fine, it's just when i turn my pc off, then later turn it back on, it resets BIOS. It's annoying the hell out of me.

Any help?
Thanks.

My Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 V2 TURBO 512MB
Western Digital Raptor 74GB
OCZ ModStream 520w ATX2.2 Power Supply

I did have something similar with my MB. I use bios version f4g as it is the best currently recommended version. It cleared my problem.

Hmm.. is it really ok to change the BIOS?

I tried on my last motherboard and almost broke it.. if I hadn't been ridiculously lucky that taking the battery out for a day reset the BIOS then I would have been out £100... what is the safest way to update the BIOS?

Stick the new BIOS on a floppy, CD or memory stick and use the Q-Flash option in the BIOS to update it.

Ok, I flashed the bios and check the cmos jumper. It's all fine. However, I turned it on this morning and it posts, then reset the bios again...

Any more ideas?

Do you have a USB drive plugged in on boot? If you do, disable USB Legacy support in the bios.

If you dissable Legacy USB support in the bios you will no longer be able to boot to a usb device but it will still work fine in windows. Try it, it has been responsible for exactly the symptoms you describe in a few cases.

Well, put the settings back to overclocked last night and disabled that legacy support thing.. turned it off.. turned it on this morning and it started up fine. So I can only assume at this point that it fixed my problem.

Thanks for all your help, I don't think i'd have ever figured that one out.
