...and having problems.

When I put a non O2 sim card in, I expected it to say network locked. However it shows this instead:

I have an O2 unlock code from eBay but it is too long to fit in. It only allows me to type 7 or 8 digits when my code is 12.

What's strange is that a PUK code is what you need when the sim card itself has been blocked by entering your PIN incorrectly too many times (nothing to do with the phone), which I haven't as I've tried it with brand new sim cards and got the same result. I thought I'd ask the networks for PUK codes anyway just to try, but none work, nor do they have a clue what's happening.

The alternative is getting an O2 sim and paying them £15 to do it for me, but of course I'd rather not.

What's going on? :(

I would try another non O2 sim, sounds like the one you are using has pin protection.

PUK code is from the SIM card. You need the PUK Code from the O2 sim, or as stated about get another SIM.

I've tried about 5 different SIMs now, from Vodafone to EE, etc. All of them request the same thing, but no codes work from any of them. O2 SIMs work fine because it is an O2 phone, but won't let me unlock the phone that way because there isn't anywhere to input the code.

I don't get why it's saying every SIM is blocked when they're all brand new.

You need a PUK code for the SIM you are putting in, if you don't have it you need to call provider to get it.

Then you will be able to type the unlock code in.

SIMs used to come with it attached with the PIN code.

EEs for example

Reset doesn't clear it.

That's what I've done. I've used the online EE PUK code for the EE SIM, phoned Vodafone and used their PUK code for the Voda Sim and also used Three's for their SIM as well. Each code for its own SIM but none of them work. Starting to think the phone is messed up. :o

If you know someone on O2 contract you could try giving them your IMEI number to unlock it,it's worked for me before.
Failing that looks like you might have to bite the bullet and get an O2 PAYG sim.

Still having trouble with this. O2 sent me an unlock code, but still the phone persists with asking for a PUK code regardless of what SIM I put in. It says this code is incorrect, along with every other code I've requested from multiple networks. Am I just going to have to accept that this phone is destined to be on O2 forever? :p
