Hi Guys

I am sure this is trivial but bloody annoying

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Crucial M4 256GB
Its brand new - I have not done anything with it - I thought it made sense to update the firmware first.

I have downloaded the file from the crucial site - burned it onto a CD with Nero. Also tried burning to a DVD and CD with windows.

In Bios set IDE and Boot Priority to DVD Rom

It then posts the BD Rom light flashes but it doesnt detect the disc and says operating system not found.

Obviously I am asuming I have bearnt the disc wrong or something simialr

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks

When you look at the disc in Windows, what do you see on it?

Just a 'C400-0001-or-0002-to-0009-Crucial_00.iso' file or a 'BOOT' folder and 'REVISION.TXT' file?

You're aiming for the latter.

'C400-0001-or-0002-to-0009-Crucial_00.iso' is a disc image file and must be burnt as such.

Windows 7 has a basic disc image burner built in. Failing that, use something like ImgBurn.

when I look at the disc I am seeing the c'400...... .iso

How do i use the win 7 image burner and thanks for the help

simple soultion

I was dragging and dropping the file to burn it

Double clicking it opened in nero to burn as an image, I am now getting the boot / revision folder you mentioned

what a wolly I am and thankyou for the help
