Okay I currently have a Sony XZ premium, looking at Sony line up I can't work out what it's replacement is? There naming scheme quite frankly does my head in.

I'm just considering phones atm no need to change but want to know what it's the same ball park.

I like how well built this phone is, it's also water proof etc which comes in handy.

HDR on screen I don't know if it miss it as I don't really watch Netflix on it anyway use my TV or tablet for that

What is your price range? Are you on contract or buying SIM free?
Sim only atm £8 a month with 4gb data that I keep getting told by o2 I'm maxing most months.

No more than £25/30 a month if possible, wouldn't be buying sim free unless the deal worked out vastly cheaper

Good SIM only deal + headset outright most of the time comes cheaper. I saw that EE lunched some deals where in addition to some phones you can grab a 4K Telly or Switch:

If you stuck with 02 for signal reasons go and have a look and GifGaff or Tesco mobile ... and for few £ more you can grab a lot more Data this days (again would help if you dont have to be bound to o2 and/or you dont mind cash back deals)

Sim Only vs Contract isn't always clear cut. Ask your provider for some quotes around your budget first, see if you can get any loyalty discounts or anything. Then have a look around online and compare the total price over 12/24 months for the other options.

For example, when I was looking to upgrade earlier this year, it worked out about the same cost over 24 months for contract vs sim only for my S10. However, EE threw in a Galaxy Watch and a 20% discount on my contract which meant it worked out better.

Of course a big advantage of going SIM only is that deals generally only last 12 months, so if you want to upgrade more often, it's usually a better choice.

If you like your existing phone, keep it and switch to a SIM-only plan. There are plenty around which offer more data for a similar price. VOXI do 8gb for a tenner a month on a 1-month rolling plan, which would give you better data and a chance to look around for another phone if that's what you prefer.

From what he says he's SIM only already. You're right though, there are much better deals about. I have a backup SIM with ID mobile that gives 9GB a month for a tenner.
