my desktop computer just stopped working this morning, I tried to turn it on but it just doesn't boot.

When I hit the power on button, the power LED comes, HDD and DVD drive LEDs come on, The graphics card lights up internally. But I don't get a picture on the screen.

Normally the graphics card would make a very loud wooooosh sound, but this time it doesn't I'm guessing the graphics card isn't even booting, or being asked to boot by the mobo.

Normally the mobo would make a beep sound, seconds after I turn the power on. But now, it's not doing anything.

So I can't really fugure out what part is damaged, it was working fine last night, and I noticed once before that when i hit the power buton on, it just hanged immediately after, but then I just reset the device and it was working again.

Right now, it stays blank no matter how many times I reset.

Any ideas on what parts might be at fault here?

Yep, the PSU fan does come on, and as I said earlier power light in the cases, and other parts like hdd, dvd drives, gfx power lights come on too, so it can't be that.

COuld it be between the Mobo cpu or ram? my dilema is that if I end up buying the wrong parts, I could go on a buying spree picking up replacements for this outdated gaming rig when I could have done a complete upgrade.

Felt like I was taking a stab in the dark, ordered a skt 775 mobo, and a case (Ii've got very tight squeeze in a 10+ year old case), and viola. It was the mobo after all, and the PC now works perfectly.
