Well, this could be an amusing thread for some, but not pleasant for a very small minority - I imagine you could feel quite queasy, so you have been warned :p

For as long as I remember I have found an assortment of things in nature oddly creepy or slightly nauseating. The most notable example would be the innards of a pumpkin or butternut squash - just the way that very small things are arranged in a delicate way, or how seeds of certain tropical plants appear. I also remember that an advertisement featuring many heads or faces joined into one big face was banned or pulled since a few people found it unsettling a year or so ago (there was an OCUK thread on it). Hell, I don't even particularly like that recent duracell bunny advert where many bunnies form one big elephant!

It now seems that I am not alone in my distaste - there is something (unofficially?) called trypophobia, which is the fear of clusters of holes or small things embedded together. I'm not affected by this in the same way as my phobia of spiders (I am terrified of those :D), but it does make me feel peculiar / weird.

Now, there are a whole manner of weird and freaky images that can be googled and will probably be posted shortly, but I thought I'd have the decency not to freak people out without a brief explanation of what to expect (and since some people can apparently be affected by this quite badly, I'd appreciate if the Don's could be so kind to remove anything they consider particularly unsuitable in this thread).

I imagine this might be more common than I first thought - has anybody else heard of this or feels similar?

Sort of. I find stuff like that really gross and would avoid touching them at all costs. Like a wet sponge or something or some other gross type of thing with loads of.....yeah I think I might know EXACTLY what your talking about

Eurgh, that is horrible. ^

I understand what you mean though Nitefly, never really thought about it though, until now.

one of my exes was disturbed by honeycombs, and bubbles, like in crunchie bars and when washing dishes, was very odd

Have no idea what you mean but that link with the finger is disgusting :(

Judging by the responses already, it seems it might be fairly common after all!

That doesn't actually affect me at all. This however, does make me feel uneasy (this isn't a 'grim' image at all unlike the finger, but it might elicit the mild response I am talking about):

The finger is horrible indeed.

There are some seriously weird people on here.

But logically (and quite seriously), i guess that's why some people frequent forums a lot, because they have phobias about going out/other things?

What gives with the fingers with teeth? Is it real?

Yes, somewhere out there, there is a person with teeth on their fingers... :p

The only phobia I have is being around people brushing their teeth (the noise), and the noise made when scrubbing a carpet. I'm not sure what it is, but it makes me cringe and feel ill. :o

I've seen a similar one to the finger but it's a picture of a breast with maggots / larvae in holes around the nipple... very unpleasant.

I hope you are not implying I fear going outside :p

The most insane example of a phobia I have ever heard of regarded a friend at a multi story car park. He went to the ticket machine to pay his ticket, but there was an enormous queue - the woman at the front was having fits of tears. People were trying to comfort her but she was hysterical, "oh god I'm so scared of snakes" she kept screaming. Somebody put her ticket in the machine for her and paid for it to keep things moving - there was no sign of any pipes or anything that could be remotely snake like.

My friend got to the front of the queue and put his money in the machine, only to spot on a small notice board an advertisement for 'cobra karate lessons', with a picture of a friendly cartoon snake.
