TSB 5%

Seems I already do it, sort of. Have been for a few years. Take out a 0% CC and put the money on it in savings somewhere. Less profitable now that savings rates are duff, and I don't have a mortgage, but I've been rolling through 0% CCs for a while purely to use the balance as savings.

You can have up to 6 of these accounts if you are married.

2 in your name
2 in partners name
2 Joint

So thats a total of upto £12k at 5%

I have 18 of these types of accounts with different banks and just have SO's setup to move the required limits around them all once a month. Easy cash

Just get a Santander 123.

£1,000+ = 1.00% AER gross (variable)
£2,000+ = 2.00% AER/1.98% gross (variable)
£3,000 to £20,000 = 3.00% AER/2.96% gross (variable)

Plus 1-3% cashback on household bills. http://www.santander.co.uk/uk/current-accounts/123-current-account

It's what we've got purely for our savings and bills. I have a SO for £500 every month from our Lloyd's current account and £250 coming back to cover the bills coming out and the min payment requirement.

You can open 2x TSB CA's and earn 5% on £4k (£2k in each). I have £2k in each account, transfer in £501 each month and then transfer £501 + the interest back out the next day.

Currently have three Santander123 accounts and the wife is opening another in her name on Friday. 3% AeR is better than the 1.2% we were getting in a high interest savings account!

If you've got that much cash sitting around in a bank account, you would be better investing it somewhere, even peer to peer will give you better returns.

Is that aimed at me, or the Guy with half a billion spread across eleventy billion accounts? :p

The 123 account is good, but you'd still better off sticking 2k in a TSB account.

Primary aim is overpayments on a mortgage tho, massive savings to be had there. Just need someone to build houses near me!

Excuse the ignorance whats peer to peer ?

Was considering santander 123 sounds simple and good returns.
