My little pug lumped metro has some loss of power, and gets some slight hesitation when using little throttle.

Any ideas chaps?

Would an Italian tune up be in order?

All the filters are fairly new, and there's no air getting in, and there's no leaks.

Would chucking some wd40 down the intake work?

"Italian tuneup" ? "WD40 down the intake" ?

Take it to a garage mate. ;)

Worth checking the fuel filter, and filter housing water drain. Also give the stop solenoid a gentle smack with something, incase its gone limp and isnt holding back properly. I miss poking about in the old TUD engines !

Stop solenoid where's that, on the fuel pump?

Ah do you mean the one the the thermostat housing, changed it not long ago but i will check the cable tension when warmed it, it might be just on the edge.

Id be surprised it's the injectors, she's done 30k so far.

As for the start and idle it's spot on, and changed the glow plugs for bosch ones not long ago.

Also why take it to a garage, i know more than most thank you. ;)

But it's my first diesel, so there's a learning curve.

I do run her on morrisons diesel, would this be a cause?

A mate did say that mechanical diesels can be fussy with fuels.

stop solenoid is diagonally mounted on the rear end of the fuel pump, where the fuel pipes come out, should be one wire going to it.
They can get a bit glitchy but usually either work or don't.

The o'ring seal on the one way valve on mine started leaking and sucking in air which caused it to stutter somewhat. (on the back of the fuel filter housing in the recess)
Best way to check there is definitely no leaks is pump the primer until it's hard and check fuel doesn't start weeping out of places it shouldn't.

Water in the fuel would also be a good un, might be worth draining the fuel filter, even though it's fairly new.

Ah did wonder what that wire there was, ok i'll give it a smack in a minute.

Don't think there are any leaks, but i'll have a nose.

Btw you know that bolt on the back of the fuel pump, you wouldn't happen to know where i can get replacement washers?

Tried a dealer but no luck, might end up getting them from scrapped cars.

Also any idea what stop switch they used?

Brand new from a motor factors the stop switch is about £6, just take note which pump you have (Lucas /Bosch) and also note the size of the switch (fat/slim).
Piontless trying to source one of those second hand.

I doubt anyone here is going to have a pump to hand to take off that bolt and measure the washer size, your best bet is to remove the plug, measure it and have a look online for copper washers at say rs-components.

Yeah was the best car for sheer fun, cost me a packet but kicked out 210hp and handled so nice.

Cheers scuba, I'll have a fiddle when I can find the time.
