Tugged, accused and eventually go, left with sour taste..

But you have a ricer chav boy, never get this sort of attitude in your German toys, dump the kneeson.........(for clarity, don't dump the kneeson) ;)

I don't think the car helps, but to be fair in the last 6 pulls, 3 were really polite and wanted to chat about it. The other 3 are best left.

It's a shame because I used to have a lot of respect for the police and that's diminishing. I actually started to move to get back in the car to move it when Himmler Jnr told me I had to.

Still, bless him, he came out with a peach. "What is your business in town?".

Standing in a Tesco car park with my eco-warrior shopping bag and wallet in hand, I too was confused by my intentions.

A dick is a dick, some of them just have posh uniforms and a personality bypass, merging ignorance and arrogance in a rare blend that makes them as compelling as squirrel aids. You should have said I'm going to buy some white powder dude, there's this family called the McDougalls who have been selling it for years, mainly to families.

He'd have the place surrounded and the chopper a hovering. :D

Wow, this thread certainly reveals some interesting elements of peoples' personalities.

Obviously there are some coppers that aren't very good at their job, they're just as likely to be ******** as any other person. Yet, the attitudes of some idiots in this thread actually makes me understand why some people get so much trouble. If you're going to act like a complete tool with your snobby little attitude, of course they're going to give you hassle!

A lot of the stories in this thread have seemed a bit out of order, but I'm guessing a lot of them haven't been relayed with 100% accuracy and truth. The rest are probably down to either the aforementioned attitude problems or factors you might not know about - ongoing investigations, certain things that make you look dodgy etc etc.

In my experience, if you're not doing anything wrong and don't act like a complete moron, you've got nothing to worry about if you're being stopped. They'll often try to get you talking to see if they can smell alcohol on your breath, see if you're acting weird etc. Remember, they don't know you so your righteous indignation is only going to cause problems.

See now I don't get how sometimes police seem to try and sting you on the smallest of things but when it's something bigger they are nice and let you off...

I mean, I got pulled for doing 110ish (on a motorway bout 4am) topping out a corsa courtesy car, feddies stopped me, smelt "something suspicious" so searched me, my friends and the car then just took me into their car and gave me a mini telling off and a stop & search notice but told me it was my lucky day and they'd let me off the speeding and the "other thing".

But another time (non motoring related) I got called a ****** **** by one while I was trying to break up a fight and then they were threatening to throw me in the police van!

It's such a shame that policing these days depends more on the officers mood than on the situation itself.

The vast majority of coppers are good eggs in my experience who get a crappy deal in the main. The odd one or two who are cocks and any copper worth his salt will tell you the same but they should not be seen as typical. The fact is that many of the people who complain will be acting like the people we see on the TV and get annoyed at and those that aren't will be dealing with the aforementioned cocks. As they say until we have walked in a persons shoes and see the type of utter scum they deal with day in day out we can't really judge. As has been said if you take it as part of life with an attitude that goes with that approach you'll have no issue. I've been stopped a few times in my life for speeding, I'm yet to be given a ticket. I also got pulled in my first M3 when it was new and still a rare car, on one occasion because I was turning around and pulled into the road between to boy racers in 2 barry'd up cars. Coppers coming the other way spotted barryboy 1, brand new M3, barry boy 2 and felt it looked out of place and pulled me. I was simply lost, didn't get annoyed and we had a laugh and I got some directions.

I've also had the odd incident of annoyance with Mr Arrogant but I simply put it down to a copper having a bad day, we all have em. Socialise with a few of them and it soon becomes apparent what a crappy world we live in, luckily a world few of us really see or experience, thank god.

Indeed. I was with some friends the other day and we got pulled over for no reason. Several officers surrounded the car and pulled each of us out and separated us.

He asks me:

"you got a bit of weed on ya mate, yeah?" - "no"

"murdered anyone" - "What the hell?"

"yeah happens a lot, it's best if you just tell us before we find out" - speechless.

He then pulls my 2 week old phone out of my pocket and drops it on the rough solid concrete. Picks it up and puts it back in my pocket.

I wasn't going to let him get away with it so I asked him what he's going to do about the huge dent in my phone. He then replies "You wanna get nicked?" and then runs back to his van while saying "****ing scum".

Absolutely shocking tbh.

On a seperate occasion, I was walking to the bus stop after college when a lady community support officer stopped me and told me to walk the other way! She said "I wouldnt reccommend walking that way, you're asking for trouble, turn around and go the other way". I looked at her in disbelief and carried on to the bus stop.

Platinum87 would have stabbed them.

A quick check on his phone records would have exonerated him in very short order.

It's called human nature. When most people realise they've made an embarrassing mistake, they try to save as much face as they can. It's not very professional, but we all do it. Sometimes the rozzers do it too.

Like I said, it's not an attitude problem, it's human nature. On the other hand, if they look back on it and realise they were in the wrong, it might make them better police officers. This is why we don't crucify people every time they make a mistake.

Valid to an extent, but the training should have eliminated some of the stories here. The odd mistake is fine, but not when it results in punitive measures. A lot of police I've dealt with are perfectly capable of not exhibiting what you call human nature, why shouldn't we expect that standard from all officers, most of the time?

Similar incident for myself last night, but the reason I was pulled....for passing a marked police car on the M25 at 75mph. He was in the far left lane, I was next to him in the second lane. With 2 lanes next to me practically empty and with traffic passing me at greater speed.

He then pulled me and his first words at the side of the road were, "Are you taking the ******* ****!" I replied with "Pardon?!" He insisted I was taking the **** out of him by overtaking him and asked what I do for a living and how I would feel if he came to my place of work and took the **** out of me. Anyway I knew I was below the 77mph and the fact this conversation was happening at the roadside instead of in the patrol car, he was probably out on his first patrol alone so I let him enjoy his ego stroking experience.

What was annoying was there were cars doing 80, going past me and he picked me, the young guy in the ST220 to pull. Profiling?!

This sort of thing makes me think police need higher entry requirements to get into the force.

Anyway I knew I was below the 77mph

Er - it's not a 77mph limit, it's a 70mph limit. That means he's perfectly entitled to give you a ticket for 71mph, never mind 75mph.

But having cruised past no end of police cars at up to 80mph and not been stopped (touch wood etc), yet again my response to a story in Motors about the police behaving badly is: "What are you not telling us?"

Nothing; I was driving my car in a perfectly legal manner with my girlfriend in the passenger seat.

But I like your assumption that all the boys in blue are top chaps and there isnt the slightest chance that some are just prats, purely in the job for the easy position of authority they couldn't have gained travelling a more competitive track.

Because it didn't happen.
I couldn't care less if you believe it or not. I'm actually quite shocked you don't believe it. I don't know what sort of perfect cotton wool society you live in, but everything round here is a mess, even the police.

Anyway, i've spent too much time in this thread. Bye.

Was speaking to my dad about it today and he is of that generation that swallow everything they've been told. He absolutely did not believe me and said my behaviour must have made them treat me the way they did. Nevermind i was polite and did not raise my voice, curse etc.. because i know how that could end up for me, and working in education i cannot afford that for the sake of my job.
