Having some problems with hauppauge nova-t pci card (digital). Have installed software and drivers and it cant find standard channels when scanning and there doesnt seem to be any way to manually tune. Also the picture stutters. Thought this was maybe dual core problems but have dual core driver and also tried setting affinity but didnt work.

So any way to stop stuttering?
Any way to manually tune
Any other 3rd party tv viewing software that will work with my card?

i had the same tv card and the picture that i got was stuttering and not very good. i had something in side of my pc interferring with the picture. i took easy route and uninstalled the card, but i still get interference on my normal tv now.

Only thing I can think of is MCE but would highly recommend it.

It's the only thing I use but there's no way to manually tune my black gold with MCE. The only input you have is which transmitter to look for and what post code you have.

Problems with stuttering can usually be solved by DL'ing and installing the latest video car/tv card drivers and not running a full virus scan.

Just a could have thoughts bud

I have the same card and it works fine. The lack of channels and stuttering is caused by bad reception. Make sure the the TV ariel is hooked up and you get good reception.

Not sure what processor you have, but if you have the Cool n Quiet (or intel equivalent), enabled, try disabling it. Made a big difference on my system - channel changes much smoother etc.

Also, as has been mentioned, use a strong a signal as you can get - preferably from the roof ariel. :)

Thanks for replies guys. Media centre is out of the question and drivers are latest. Was trying to get it setup in a hurry last night in time for bulletproof monk at 10. Turned out when plugged tv in the signal is really dodgy (only moved to this flat earlier that day). Was weird as picture is really good on film4 even though it stutters which is prob due to signal anyway.

Cpu is fx60 at 3.1ghz and cool and quiet is disabled.

Is there no other 3rd party software for tv cards?
