After installin new mobo, i seem to have screwed up the cpu cooler some how, Idles at 50c stock  Same with new thermal paste.

Been wanting a new cooler anyway, want to order it today but can't decide out of these two.

It will be going in a P35C DS3R and a Lian LI PC7.
Will i have to take the motherboard back out to install any of them?
Is there thermal paste already on them? Because im usuless at putting it on myself lol

Hmm, cheers :) Not happy about getting the motherboard back out again tho :o

And im so going to mess up putting thermal paste on :(

You can't really mess up these days with the method where you put a thin line of thermal compound down the middle of the IHS.

Go for the Tuniq Tower 120 (with blue fan :p)

make sure you've screwed the corners down until they dont turn anymore. i.e. the springs are fully compressed. (I cringed when I was doing this as the mobo was flexing slightly lol) but idle temps on my Q6600 at stock are 33 and load about 52 across all 4 cores.

Regard to putting AS5/MX-1/MX-2 i just did it like it said on the Artic Silver 5 website, which is prob about a 2mm thick line across middle of chip, place the heatsink on lightly, start to tighten it up then rotate it a couple of times, left to right then finish tightening the Heat sink screws.

hmm, out of those 2 coolers for raw cooling power its the thermalright ultra 120 which is the best.

HOWEVER,

the 2 coolers mount in different directions, you should get the cooler which fires its heat towards the back of your case at the exhaust fan.
on my board the tuniq tower fit the bill since it fires towards the back of the case. if i had bought the thermalright then it would have fired upwards towards the top of the case, which is not efficient for me.

Don't understand this comment. Both coolers can fit in either direction as long as the mobo has clearance for them. My Ultra-120 fires towards the back of the case.

I've got a Tuniq tower inside my Eclipse case, temperatures are incredible although I have a feeling my motherboard sensors aren't accurate, it says the cpu is running at about 21 degrees idle, most I've seen it hit is 30 degrees when working. That's using a Q6600 95w.

You're right. You need software such as Coretemp or TAT that reads the sensors on the CPU itself.

I'd go for the tuniq, i have it on the DS3R in the PC7 cooling my Quad Core, keeps the temps right down at ~25 constantly.

Im using a Tuniq Tower with Arctic Silver 5 on a E4400 @ 3.0Ghz, Idles at 21 or 22, Goes upto 56 on full load, thats on medium fan setting, pretty happy with that :)

I have both coolers, both require a plate to be fitted on the underside of the motherboard, so if nothing is there at the moment, the mobo needs to be removed to fit either.

As regards which gives the best cooling...well that would be the Thermalright (which I have fitted with a 120mm Scythe 1600rpm fan), but not by much over the TT, and the TT is cheaper. :)
