Just received my Tuniq Tower 120. Huge thing, still got a bit of space though.

Anyway, I booted up etc with my overclocks - 3.6Gz but the temperatures are soaring high..

Cores 1 and 2 are running at 70C
Cores 3 and 4 are running at 59C

A massive 10C difference.. what do you advise? Lapping maybe? (Ive never done it before and don't know where I would start)

that's a big difference in cores, so I would definately lapp both the HS and CPU.

have a look at some guides and have a bash.

lapping kits are also available... I don't think that OcUK sell them though...

Assuming the differences under load were relatively small, you might want to try and re seat the heatsink. You might want to check the heatsink for any high spots although i mine was pretty flat.

This is actually on idle... Temps reach 75-80C on load, again with a 10C difference in 1 and 2, 3 and 4.

Lowered the CPU to 3.4Ghz

Core voltage: 1.34 in CPU-Z
VID is 1.2500v

I would re-seat the heatsink like beh* mentioned, as the temps seem a little high, but again it has been warm :p

Oh... I didn't think there was a curing time on AS-5 - Thought it was MX-2 that needed it.

I'll bump this topic up on Saturday (When I go on holiday) and check if there is any difference

Curing only gives a 2C temp drop or so. Your heatsink isn't making good contact I would say. How does the base look after you've removed it? Is the paste spread evenly on the base?

The paste on the Heat-sink is an exact replica of what I put on the CPU... I'll fiddle around with the wires etc and see what happens. Probably something really stupid.

I'm also having the exact same problem

With fan on full when I go for even a mild OC of 3.2 the temps hit 70 on load.

I have reseated a lot of used AS5.

I also have plenty of case fans..

:(

Well, when i had my tunic on i was getting really high idle and loads just because of the ambient temps. I think it went up almost 15 degress!!!!

Run it on stock speed with stock volts, without any OC and check the temps then.

Not all of these chips do this speeds with low temps, if non OCed temps are still high then you either applied the paste wrong, the TT isnt screwed to the max ( you must screw the whole pins to the end untill it cant go further ), your case airflow is bad or your room temp is very high.

Use a razor/metal ruler to check the flatness of the cpu and heatsink base.

You sure the screws are as tight as they can be?
