Tunisia for Easter Holiday?

I've been looking at places to go over easter and there doesn't seem to be much choice for £500pp for 7 nights. We have found a hotel in Tunisia (Hammamet) that does all inclusive and sounds ok but I don't know anything about the area at all. I know Lopez always says that cheap all inclusive is bad, but I'm a fussy vegetarian and this hotel seems to have food I would eat - it's an Iberostar if that makes any difference.

Can anyone tell me what the area is like and if it's worth going for a quiet break at the end of April? Any recommendations for nicer places to go within the same budget?

Thanks :).

Hammamet is OK and is their version of Blackpool along with Port El Kantaoui (tourist friendly).
We always go fully inclusive and I've never had a problem anywhere.
Be aware that April in Tunisia doesn't necessarily mean good weather, if you want good weather get down to Egypt.

I went to Sousse about four years ago for a week and it wasn't that nice to be honest, I wouldn't go back. The weather was great and the hotel was lovely but as soon as you leave the hotel you just get hassled, which I hate. Depends if you can put up with Tunisians being a pain in the arse the whole time I suppose.

Edit - I'm also a vegetarian (though not fussy!) and although I wasn't a vegetarian at the time of that holiday my other half was and I seem to remember there being quite a bit of choice for her. :)

Agreed....we also went all inclusive, we loved El Kantaoui.

You dont seem to hear the horror stories about Tunisia that you do about the likes of egypt mind.

We went to Sousse for a day out and went into the open market.
It was the worst time of my life because I had my wife & 2 daughters and around 300 shopkeepers letching after them.
Twice I was ordered into a shop and shown a big knife to buy and when I refused they got very angry.
As soon as we got out of the other side we got straight into a taxi and went back to Kantaoui where nobody hassles.

I'm going back to Egypt in April.
7 day Nile cruise, 3 nights in Cairo next to the Pyramids and then down to Hurghada for 5 days.

I really loved Tunisia - we went end Sept to Port El Kantaoui.

We went camel riding and on a Tunisian night to get out of the port. We also braved Sousse and the Medina there - as long as you are prepared for shopkeepers hounding you, it really isn't that bad.

I am used to it, you just have to be confident and walk past them, haggle loads too and you get your way. If they don't agree (90% of the time they will) there is always someone else willing to sell to you.

We stayed at: El mouradi Palace which was brilliant for us :)

Lots of Germans and Russians though!

Sounds a little like Turkey to me. Went there with my missus and all i can remember of the place is 1000 turks trying to latch onto my missus.

AVOID.
