Turion64 X2 VS Centrino/C2D

When looking for a laptop, which would be the better processor to go for? Assuming that both are the same/similar clock speeds. Am I right to assume that Intel are currently the leaders in laptop processors as well as desktop processors? Im looking for a laptop with a T7300 or similar and have seen a few AMD equipped laptops for lower prices than the Intels.

If you compare the two overall, the Intel's usually come out on top in performance and battery life etc

Performace wise the C2D will be quicker clock for clock, battery life i would say is very close as i have a turion x2 tk-53 and get 4 hours surfing with a £300 dell vostro 1000 with 56wr batt so they are pretty good.

Only the T7600G in the dell xps m1710 and the core 2 extreme X7800 with an unlocked laptop (such as the m1730) will overclock, not that you would really want to.

So no chance of pushing the T7300 from 2GHz to the 2.2GHz of the T7500 on a Dell Vostro 1700 then?

In my experience the AMDs can't even touch the Intels.

We've got laptops with both and the AMDs are poop really compared to the c2d/coreduo ones

Would you recommend spending the extra money on the extra 200MHz?
Or is it possible to upgrade a laptop CPU such as the C2D's?

Um. Centrino is the marketing name for the combination of an intel cpu, chipset and wireless card.
