Please please can we have it back and hopefully not just for next season.

Bernie Ecclestone says he will try to resurrect the Turkish GP when he heads to Istanbul this weekend for the FIA Awards dinner and a meeting of the World Motorsport Council.

With the planned race on the streets of New Jersey postponed until 2014, the 2013 calendar was published with just 19 races.

The F1 supremo previously stated that he would try to find a replacement race in France, but funding was not forthcoming for a GP at Magny-Cours or Paul Ricard.

I'd love to visit Austria, those gorgeous Mountains and Lakes! If they have it there I'd seriously consider going.

Although I quite like the A1 Ring for some reason, it's just wrong to have it on the calendar with it being RBs own track.

There were some good races at the A1 ring, and I always liked the track....fairly straightforward layout but some good spots for overtaking and nice elevation changes to keep it interesting.

The old longer Osterreichring track there was pretty awesome too in its own special way, very dangerous though, very narrow in places and with minimal run off....it fell out of use for safety reasons......it would be nice to see a race return here in my view, if they lengthened the lap to bring in some elements from the old track! Look at the old track though, how narrow and dangerous does this place look?!

Honda ran/own Suzuka and Toyota Fuji Speedway when they used to race there? Or do you mean the fact its in the name?

Why is it wrong?

There's no technical, performance or legal reason obviously, it's just personal opinion that a race shouldn't be held at a track which has such a strong connection to a team in a commercial sense. Things should be a bit more neutral than that.

As a track I like it, so I'd be happy to see it back. Just a shame about the naming. Red Bull winning at the Red Bull Ring in the home of Red Bull. Finger, finger, finger, drinks can, drinks can, drinks can, etc. etc. etc. :p

So you feel the same about F1 using Suzuka or Fuji too then? Or any Mazda powered cars racing at Laguna Seca? How about F1 testing at Mugello? MotoGP at Motegi? Panoz cars racing at Sebring or Road Atlanta? How about Santander sponsoring an F1 event? Half the tracks Super GT goes too? British Superbikes at any MSV track? Sheddon racing at Knockhill?

Is Suzuka's official title "Honda Suzuka International Racing Course"? No, Honda just own it and don't feel the need to stick their name on everything like some glorified marketing product.

That's what my point is, I'm not arguing about it and it's simply my opinion that it's too in your face in terms of RB branding for an F1 race to be held there while there is a RB team operating in F1, there's surely some conflict of interests?

Mazda Raceway is fine though? And the Santander British Grand Prix? And the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix?

Sure your not just looking for any excuse you can to have a go at Red Bull, such is the norm on here?

There's absolutely nothing 'wrong' with the Red Bull Ring hosting an F1 event, some people just seem to want there to be so they can have a little moan.

I've no idea what goes on at Laguna Seca, so they can do whatever they want. I only follow F1 as a motorsport.

And no, I'm not just looking for an excuse to bash RB, don't be so paranoid. You're the one looking too much into posts trying to make out people are having a go. I expressed a simple opinion and it's been jumped on, as usual for this place.

If they tested there, like Ferrari with their own track a few years ago, then I see your point, but would rather have a GP there then losing one. Prefer Turkey though of course :D

If Red Bull want it, Red Bull will probably get it. Bernie is hardly going to screw over his favourite team and f1's biggest team x2 sponsor.

A few years ago Ferrari were accused, and probably did have to much influence over F1's decisions. People were rightly uncomfortable with that arrangement but for some strange reason seem totally comfortable with Red Bull calling the shots in the same way.

So its only 'wrong' if its happening in a series you watch?

Lol.

You know what, you're right. I don't know what I was thinking. On reflection you know far more than I do on the subject.

Bye and thanks for setting me straight :)

Comfortable? Really? Have you not noticed the whole F1 world collectively jumping at Red Bull at every possibility?

And which 'shots' have they called?

Indeed, I get what you meant. Santander and Petronas are not F1 teams so no idea why someone thought to use them as a counter point.

Agreed, along with Red Bull now the promoter for the FIA WRC. Having Torro Rosso help them out when possible in F1, if that was Ferrari then you can bet it would be getting a lot more attention.

Because the person in question supports Red Bull.

One point people have overlooked is that aside from being able to test at the A1 Ring - itself a big advantage - as the owners, Red Bull can modify the circuit to suit their own car design. Anybody who doesn't think that's a worrying prospect for the support needs to reappraise their life choices.
