Turkey preview quotes - HRT, Bridgestone, Williams, Renault & more
Monte Carlo is a tough act to follow, but Istanbul Park, which will host the Turkish Grand Prix, is more than up to the task. A state-of-the-art facility, which features one of the most challenging corners on the calendar, the already legendary Turn Eight, an unusual anti-clockwise layout and plenty of gradients, it’s a real challenge. And it’s no wonder the drivers - and team personnel - can’t wait to get started on the 5.378 kilometre track…

Weather Forecast
94654401.jpg

The long-range weather forecast for next week’s Turkish Grand Prix suggests a dry weekend’s racing in prospect.

Temperatures are expected to be around 20 degrees on all three days with minimal chance of rain.

This is somewhat cooler temperatures than the race used to in its original late-summer place on the calendar. In 2008 the race was moved from August to May, meaning the race is held in less blazing temperatures than it used to be.

This has helped ease tyre wear concerns at one of the most punishing tracks on the calendar. Drivers will use the soft and hard compounds in this year’s race, the same which were used last year.

Coverage of the Turkish Grand Prix, presented by Jake Humphrey. Felipe Massa has won three of the five races held at the Istanbul Park circuit, but he has struggled to find his best form since returning from a head injury. A fourth win would certainly ease the pressure on the Brazilian, whose place at Ferrari could be under threat. Jenson Button won last year's race after an early error from pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel, and the world champion could again be the man to beat. However, fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton, who has yet to win in Turkey, will not want to be left in the shade by his McLaren team-mate.

Wonder if Massa can pull something out of his backside at his favourite track.

This is what I'm thinking. If ever he has a chance to beat Alonso, this is the track which represents his best chance.

Unfortunately for Massa, he really seems to be taking a mental beating from Alonso, which is effecting his lap times (adversely).

This should be Red Bull's race to lose - the track is ideal for them? You never know how much ground the other three top teams may have made as well though I guess.

or how much more we have ;)

Just curious, Whats your job with Redbull and how did you end up getting it? Was it as simple as just applying like you would any other job?

Also do you get to talk to the Drivers at all or is that mainly the Chief Engineers job?

Just wondering how it all works:)

I do various things, mainly work with R&D these days. Also write all the software and programs for the 5 autoclaves we have onsite. I've worked in motorsport since 1996 on and off. Started at Lola Cars [yes including the doomed Lola F1] A very old friend of mine is Head of Manafacturing at Red Bull and he asked me to take 2 weeks holiday from Lola and come sort out the claves at Red Bull. Been here ever since!

Quite often have a coffee and a chat with Mark and Seb although its more often Seb as he loves being in the factory.
