Hey all,

A colleague has acquired a laptop running windows., but in Turkish. There are no discs with the system, just lappy and power lead.

What does he need to get it running in English?!

Ta!

mmmmm! I'm not sure what OS it is running, but i'm sure it isn't W7 as it is a pretty old lappy.

If i were to get hold of an OS (old, not W7). Would i be able to remove the existing Turkish OS to install an English one?

Has he got the windows sticker? Does he want to save the current settings?

If yes and no to the questions, just reformat, and install the correct .iso image and reactivate.

I had an arabic netbook HP Compaq with windows 7 starter which when I reinstalled gave me the option to use english or arabic as the system language. As a non arabic speaker I chose english. I have since upgraded to ultimate, but that was later.

What OS is it? Does it have the COA?

Either try and download the Language pack for it (if possible) or format and reinstall windows using the same version as shown on the COA.

Why can't you just change the language to english? or am i missing something here?

As far as I know you can't change the language of Windows without a reinstall.

(Ignoring Windows 7 Ultimate which was mentioned above)
