turning off hdd cause damage?

ive set my hard drive to shut down in the power management when i hasnt been used for 5 mins, this is mainly to make my pc even more silent.

but does it cause damage to the hdd?

no it should be fine,

Spin-Up does put more pressure on the motor and draws more current than keeping the disk constantly spinning. If it's a regularly accessed disk that is being spun up and down a lot it can definitely damage the disk motors health...
