Turning on auto detect hardware in XP pro ?

Hi , I recently finished a clean install of Windows XP pro but am having trouble detecting hardware.

Usually after an install my PC picks up everything it doesnt have drivers for and prompts me for the cd or to go online , this time it isnt

Is there an option to enable/disable autodetection for sound cards/graphics cards etc ?

Are you saying it is not detecting the hardware at all, or it is just not prompting you to update the driver?

Just open device manager and update driver from there. Or in some cases just run the software installer. You can't have that many non-installed devices to make this a chore particularly.
