Hi.
I bought Pokèmon Diamond yesterday (traded Res4 Wii in for it :p).
Ive just stared playing it, but cant decide on what starting Pokèmon to get.
Ive read around, and it seems that its between Chimchar and Turtwig for the most useful.

Any opinions/tips?

Thanks in advance all. :).

Chimichanga, I choose you.

Sorry, missed breakfast and the Sandwich trolley isn't due for another 30 mins.

I always pick water pokemon so Piplup ***.

Pick piplup if you want a challenge, the others pretty much own at really early levels, but piplup gets better as it ages.

Are these games actually that good?

Never played one.
If its as good as the blue/red ones from the GBC days, then im in for a cracking time! lol.

Not much of a loss to me if its rubbish though, i only payed £6 for it anyway, and its still got a £25+ trade-in value.
(Traded in Res4 Wii, that severely tainted my Res4 GC memories, for £22, added an extra £6, and got Pokèmon Diamond.
Not bad business on my part, considering i got Res4 for £21.99 :p)

So Chimchar is the one to pick?

Sounds a bit of a daft question, but can the 'old' Pokèmon be caught in this game? Cant remember their names, but the three that you can pick at the beggining of Red/Blue?

What do you do in these games?

There have been quite a few Pokemon games on Nintendo now. They must be good at what they do.. but what is it?

I have the impression you train a Pokemon up to fight with other Poke(mons/men)?

Its a fapping awesome RPG, pokemon red/blue were two of the best games of my childhood tbh. Everyone i knew who picked it up was glued to it for many, many hours. I remember bodging torches and stuff to my gba so i could play the sucker in bed. Awesome, awesome game.

Chimchar is the best one to pick, theres not a lot of fire pokemon in the game at all and those that you can get arent available near the start of the game. Hes also more useful on the bosses and IMO he looks cooler.

I went for piplup at the start for the extra challenge but tbh its not going to be hard either way. its also worth picking up a budew(hard to evolve) and one of those sparrow pokemon at the start and maybe a gyrados, with just those 4 levelling them evenly nothing should be able to stop you. im not saying its the best team in the world but its powerful enough to beat the game with

You to choose one of three Pokemon at the start, you can also catch other pokemon. You train these and fight against other trainers. It is based around a story but training and fighting are the two main aspects

And the plural of Pokemon is Pokemon :D

I lost track of the series after Gold/Silver, how many Pokemon are there now?

Well i went for Chimchar, just left the first city, beat everyone in the "Trainers Gym".
Gave Chimchar the 'Hidden move' thing, and told him to forget Leer and replace it with Taunt.

Got 4 Pokèmon upto now:
Chimchar @ L10.
Bidoof @ L5.
Shinx @ L6.
Starly @ L7.

Quite enjoying it thus far, theres a lot to the game upto now, and i get the impression that there's loads more to. Looking forward to it. :).
