Tuyga switch

Your options are with home assistant software such as Google/Alexa etc, or with the Tuya app. You can get smart physical switch devices that will "on press send this command to alexa" for instance, which could be in a different location or network. Everything is possible.

Would I need an Alexa as well I don't have one or a Google Speaker. I could buy one but seems a bit of an overkill.
You can install the alexa app on your phone from either Google Play store or Apple App store, so you then just have the option of your two phone apps, you can then link a physical switch to the alexa app on your phone since alexa is a cloud provided service anyway.

Thanks can you suggest a physical switch please

Yes. As long as it's another Tuya / Smart life switch.

In the smart life / tuya app,
Create a new scene.
Select 'When device status changes'
Select the switch you want to do the controlling
Select the specific switch on the switch you want to do the controlling
Select 'On'.

Now under 'Then' add a new Task.
Control Single Device
Select the switch you want being controlled.
Select the specific switch you want controlling
Select 'On'.
Save.

Now, create another new Scene, but for 'Off'.

I personally really like these style switches. They've got a physical press action. Much prefer it to 'touch' buttons where you never know if you've pressed it or not. Plus loads of programmable functionality.
