as above really?

i have everything i need ie full system, just need to know what cards are available with media centre. i will also need to record tv.

i will be using a freeview box with it which only has SCART and RF connections

Hi mate,

OCUK sell a dual digital tuner PCIE card which may be a little more than what you are wanting to spend. Alternatively you can get a card from black gold which has a single tuner.

Why are you using the freeview box btw? Its better to just get a digital tuner card so you actually get control over the channels with the MCE remote/software!

I've got a couple of these fellas:

Compro VideoMate DVB-T200 Digital TV Internal PCI - Retail

£29.36 inc vat from OCUK. Cracking card and works a treat with XP MCE (not tried them with Vista though, in case anyone else is wondering).

I recently upgraded to a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 dual channel DVB (freeview) PCI card for my media centre. It works great and I have no complaints!

Btw, it's also MCE certified!

My uncle had 3x HVR-1100's that lagged his pc out completely and refused to pick up digital signal. Another friend had the card you refer to and had the same problems with it. Shame really as the cards not a bad deal given what it does. Maybe they were both unlucky and got dodgy ones?

which one linky please?

The early cards had problems, I had to send one back myself. The one I have at the moment works like a dream! There are two versions of this package, one of them is the MCE edition and comes with an MCE oriented remote I believe. I'm not sure there are any other differences, and I've been using the non-MCE version myself and use a Microsoft remote. Otherwise, I believe the card is identical. Anyone know any different?

If it is over your budget, I would also recommend the Hauppauge Nova-T single decoder card, which I used prior to the dual card:

But to be honest, I found it crappy to only have a single decoder, as I would want to record one channel and watch another at times.
