TV choice - bigger size or better (oled) panel

I don't think there is a right size. Just go for whichever you like. In truth reading OP's posts, it seems like he wants to go for the 55''OLED so go for it. If you go to a TV store and check out a 65'' and 55'' TV , you'll know straight away if you want to go bigger or not. If the size doesn't affect you, get an OLED.

If I'd had a 75'' Panasonic 902B (they didn't exist so I had 65''), I would not have upgraded to my current TV. Despite the numerous technological advances, I think once you get to a certain level of PQ, what will drive you to upgrade is size (whether its because you get a bigger house, make a home theatre or want more immersion). I find upgrading for size is a more viable mechanism for forcing me to switch TVs than an upgrade in PQ.

I think I'd prefer an OLED for sure, the consideration was if its worth going for a larger panel instead and which would have the biggest improvement. As it stands, seems the screen tech is way more important. In honesty, we've been okay with a 50" tv for the last 4 years in the same room so it should be no different and, as I suggested, I have ideas for how to rearrange the room to bring the TV area closer to the sofas anyway.

Now the other thing that's bothering me, is the CX worth a E250-300 premium over the BX? From what I see, the main difference is A9 vs A7 chipsets, slightly lower brightness and a cheaper stand (my tv stand has vesa mounting, so that doesn't matter).

Yeah oled is nice. I have a big oled but if someone told me I had to take away the oled tech from my display or go to 65 inches, it’s be a tough choice ...

Had a rearrange. Very happy with it and I think I'd be more than happy with a 55" in this setup

For reference, the current TV is a 50". (I'm also aware I installed the Playbar upside down from its ideal setup, will be resolved when the TV is changed!)

Have an XH90 and a C8 here.

No question for me the OLED is the right choice even if it means a smaller panel. Perhaps wait for the January sales, for the last few years there have been good drops on the 65 OLED

Just buy it.

It already dropped twice £1699 > £1599 > £1399

Plus if it does go again in 30 days, John Lewis will refund the difference :)

Well, hell I've gone for it. Using our discount took it down to just over £1.2k and can't be used on sale items, so can't imagine it being significantly better than that come Black Friday and, honestly, even if it does I'll have had 1.5 months usage by then.

Delivery on Thursday, exciting!
