TV for Xbox 360

Class 3) A lag of more than 32ms / more than 2 frames - Some noticeable lag in daily usage, not suitable for high end gaming

:/

You really won't want a 37" 720p Panasonic plasma if you want to sit closer than 6ft. They use oblong pixels which distorts the image slightly it's most noticeable up close when you have a PC desktop display on there.

What would you say is bad about it for gaming?

It's not as smooth as my old budget Fujitsu Siemens 3230T 23" monitor which has a TN panel.

It is meant to be better than my 2713 which I notice no lag at all. This is taken from that review...

The BenQ GW2750HM showed an average display input lag of only 6ms during this test, ranging up to 8ms maximum. This was very good and should not present any problems at all, even for fast gaming. The lag of this screen has been categorised as CLASS 1 as detailed above.

Going by this table I doubt you will get much better for input lag...

Ahh, must have been getting my wires crossed. So how would I go about connecting speakers to that monitor? Just straight in to the headphone jack?

I remember reading something a little while ago aswell that said using a PC Monitor with an Xbox 360 can cause juddering/stuttering issues because of Vsync? Is this of any relevance to you at all? Would performance be exactly the same as it would on any other TV?

Cheers

Yes straight to the headphone/Audio out port.

I use my monitor with my 360 and PS3 and it works perfect no juddering or stuttering at all.

Cheers mate - So that should be the monitor to go for in my price range then? I'm happy to go for the 27" because I sit quite close to my monitor and I think 32" would be to big.

So it'd be a case of literally connecting the monitor to my Xbox 360 via HDMI and then just plugging 3.5mm speakers into the audio jack and I'll have no issues at all getting audio?

You can always use one of those Xbox 360 Audio Adapter Cables I think they're discontinued now, but still available. It's a dongle with stereo phono out and toslink intended for the previous version, but works fine apart from being grey.

I think I have one somewhere, but that way requires it to go though the PC and I don't want it to have to do that.

If it's just a case of connecting a pair of speakers directly to the monitor that will be absolutely perfect. Would be nice if someone could confirm this for me.

Why would that have to go via the PC? When I use that output I have a phono to 2.5mm cable which is plugged into an amp and speakers. I would have thought the monitor will only be line out level you'll still need an amp or active speakers.

This makes no sense to me. :(

Yes mate pair of speakers into the monitor audio out/Headphone socket the same way I use mine. Works perfect.

Awesome.

Still have to make a final decision though, to build a gaming PC or to get an Xbox 360 setup... :p

Xbox 360 will be outdated in a year, the PC I plan to build will last way past that. All of my mates have a 360 though... Oh well I guess buying the monitor now will prepare me for the new gen of consoles! :)
