Anyone else got this?

Just bought it yesterday. Seems alright. Dont really know what im doing so much. The manual isnt exactly helpful. Doesnt seem to be any starting/tutorial mode.

First thing ive done is got some advertising contracts. Stuck em in the schedule any old place, installed an tv station upgrade.

Then onto next week where im busy sorting the TV schedule.. which is weirdly quite fun heh :)

For some unknown reason some of my adverts werent shown (red box) the ones that were (green box). No idea why they didnt show as i met the contract requirements hrmm.

Any forums for this game or anyone else got this game?
 
Oooh didn't know about this game.

I love management games like this, really can spend hours on these games :)

I think I'll pick this up... £14.99 on a certain site, seems like a good deal.

I'm gathering it's like The Movies, but a lower budget game?


Anything like the old game, Mad TV ? (If you can remember it).
 
ive heard of Mad Tv but i never got round to playing it.


Apparently you can create your own programs/films as well. who wants another season of DS9 :D So your fav shows never need to end heh.

Played for a couple of weeks. The amount of depth is unreal. It takes me ages to setup a winning schedule (ie one where my viewing percentage is beating the other 4 stations) and thats without doing market research to see what the sheep like watching on the box :) I just chuck in a film if it looks good.

Only problem im having at the moment is with advertising slots. I put the advert in the program slot so it SHOULD be shown but later i find out it hasnt been shown for some unknown reason (red = not shown green = shown) So even though its scheduled to be shown it doesnt show hrmm. maybe its a bug. Still though some adverts do get shown.

upgraded my station so i now have my own dedicated news-centre. (basically it means if theres any "events" in the town i can send a news team to it to get live coverage.

*edit* bugger... there was an outbreak at a local school or smt and i couldnt send anyone to report on it because i didnt have a newsvan argh. /buys newsvan etc

Ohh and i can also BID for sports viewing subscription packages :D (not at that point yet though)

Its one of those games which starts of a little complex then gets more complex and stuff added to it as you go.

anyone else playing this? at work atm but i'll play when i get home.

A few niggles. Doesnt let me choose higher resolution than 1024x768 from the menu.

Also i had a quarterly meeting with the boss he said he was happy with our viewing figures then in the next speech bubble he tells me that our figures took a drop recently and to do smt about it.
But its tricky to check previous channel program viewing figures... ive checked all the stats and i cant find em. When i go into the stats to look at them the bar charts are all blank... Theres no simple way to compare how well you are doing compared to the other stations and what slice of the viewing figures you have got.

Atm a low viewing figure is below 9% for me and a high/good figure is anything above 14-15%

Right solved a couple of things.

a) i need to order market research report to find out the direct comparison viewing figures overrall. (building isnt available for this yet)

b) figured out why adverts werent being accepted. It was because each advert contract has a viewing percentage limitation (e.g. 6% 20% etc) And its hard to meet the terms of the contract on ones with 20% + viewing figures requirement)

Managed to do an exclusive lnews report of a local robbery but the producer and presenters were crap only managed to get 5% of the viewing figures (shocking!)

Discovered one thing. I managed to *** off the media supervision board (BBFC i guess) by putting on an adult-ish film before the watershed hehe GREAT viewing figures though (23%) :D Of course they confiscated the film and rapped me across the knuckles for that. Now they seem to not like me much because they now occasionally nab 1 of my programs for reasons i do not know! and i cant get them back bah! (basically they auction off the program) But its worth it if you have a high value advert contract you need to fulfill on a one-off.

couple of things i havent got a scooby how to get (or maybe i get these later)

cartoons? all ive got are films and soaps and one news program and one crap comedy sketch.

Cant create new stuff. Though i can buy new films and soaps and i can now buy film and soap scripts.

Wheres the sports, concerts, gigs and stuff?

Going to order this tonight, I think your series of mini reviews have sold it to me mate.
Playing at 1024*768 though... that could get annoying, especially as my normal res is 1680*1050 :(

I'm sure I'll cope though :p

great! its quite good but i wouldnt say its superb. But for £15 or less i guess its ok. Im hoping someone else can figure this game out.

My exclusive news reports are crap :/ Some infamous gang has done their 3rd straight robbery so i setup a exclusive report and slot it into the schedule straight away. Ratings i get for this exclusive? 7% bah! People cant be that interested then! Thing is, i checked the other stations and none of them did exclusive reports for it...hrmm.

Cant buy 2 or 3 star film scripts because i dont have the licence for it yet. Apparently its gained from the Media Supervision dudes (BBFC). Yet i check them all the time and no licences are available. Now either they are refusing to give me the licence because i seem to regularly break the rules on child protection or more likely its a timed/staged release in the game.

I also had to fire my stupid head of programming. (basically he can do the entire program for you if you want) I let him do some schedules and they are rubbish he has 1 film repeated about 8 times throughout the week! Even if i buy 3 new films he doesnt bother to show them wtf....

I'm hoping its going to improve a bit. Still waiting on the market research building appearing...sports subscriptions...concerts and cartoons..

The later lot, they're definitely in the game yeah?

I'd imagine it would get a bit tedious with just comedy, news, films, news and more news.
 
it says in the manual they are. (doesnt say about cartoons) Also says you can make/produce your own films/serials. I guess they have to be unlocked as well. I aint gonna be happy if i cant make my own scifi series :(

I have one comedy sketch and one news program they are both rubbish and they never get more than 10% (in the former case never higher than 8%)

I think i need to build another studio maybe to make new news and documentarys, comedy shows etc because there is no way to buy them that i can see.

Okay things are looking up a bit finally!

Reason why my exclusive news reports were crap because the producers and presenters were Z-list nobodies.

Upgraded my station so that now B-listers will work for me (more expensive but money is easy to get) So ive got better producers and presenters and my last exclusive report grabbed 30% of the audience woo!

Also Marketing research building finally became available yay... although its crap really....because to get real benefit from it you need to analyse everything which just takes too much time!

CRAP STUFF :/

- still no option to get a licence to get better film scripts (possible bug)
- cant seem to build extra studios which i need to do to produce films/serials and thats annoying because ive paid for the land already and because there ARE NO NEW FILMS to buy! So wtf... im just showing repeats....

and the head of programming is still crap so i have to do the schedule every week which is mind-numbingly time consuming....

So unless it starts to pick up i'm prolly gonna uninstall this.. its quite repetitive. :(
 
just solved how to get all the different types of program :D :D i was a wee bit silly. couldnt see the woods for the trees :D

excellent! i had already built 2 extra studios and didnt realise it :o

developed and produced a "Trisha" relationship show and a Travel documentary thing :)

next up is a proper news show to replace the garbage ive got for news atm.

Only thing is you cant seem to change the names of the programs which is a shame :/

only thing is i forgot to do the schedule before friday (for the next week) so i have no programs on air next week so ill have to go back to an earlier save bah!
