My wife recently passed away and now i am thinking of doing away with sky to save a few pennies etc, they seem very reluctant to offer me anykind of deal so cutting ties is now
at the front of my ideas. I currently have sky stream and pay £47 a mth that includes ad skipping netfix basic and disney.

i have been looking at the manhatten aero streaming box, apple tv box etc and the manhatten seems a nice little unit.

has anyone any advice, is the manhatten aero worth getting? should i just atay with sky?

thanks

Sorry to hear about your wife. Hope you are doing OK.

I don't know those things you mention. But if you have a TV with DVB-S tuner then you can just plug your sat cable into the tv instead of the sky box and get TV like that. Most tvs these days have the streaming stuff built in. So after that, what else do you need ? But to answer your last question should you stay with sky the answer is usually 'no'

Do you need a the aero when you can get Freeview etc on most Smart TVs? We binned sky a few years back and manage fine with the apps built into the TV.

Sorry for your loss.

I checked the aero box. I didn't know you could now get standalone freely boxes.

If you don't actually have a dish, or TV aerial, then for only £90 upfront cost, looks like not a bad deal, especially if you're paying £47/MONTH for $ky.

Is your broadband via sky or another provider

Yes my broadband is via sky too that is another £32 per month
I live in a 2nd floor apartment so we have a communal dish, which i cannot really fault
my tv even though its smart, it's not the smartest its a 2012 75" samsung 4k

also looking at firestick 4k max, google tv, apple tv, and the manhatten aero

at the moment if i loose wi-fi connection for whatever reason i loose the tv, my tv is wall monuted and not really close to the outlets on the wall.

Sorry about your loss. Hope you are holding up ok ......

I gave up TV over 12 years ago. I only use YouTube...

Sorry for your loss. I also got rid of Sky less than a year ago. Haven't looked back honestly speaking.

Hey dude sorry to hear about your wife :(

Keep an eye on NowTV, both entertainment and movies are regularly dirt cheap, but you cant take advantage of the prices if you pay thru a third party liek sky/bt/virgin.
Have you checked your TV for updates to see fi it ads any different apps that weren't there to start wiht? Or even hte app store on the TV?
