highly unlikely but worth a shot. i already have an old vhs vcr with scart out. i also have one of these...

in the next day or 2, i'm looking to get an x1950 pro with vivo. could i hook this up with an s-video cable to my scart adapter to display tv (output from the vcr) on my pc screen? yes i'm a noob - sue me. :D

yeah this might work, s-videos are one of those funny connectors that dont work overly well all the time. if this doesnt work u might be better getting a tv card with a composite input

It will work as long as your scart input is s-video compatible; if it's not you will get a black and white image on your pc.

I have a cable tv feed into my pc, however the output from the cable box was not s-video compatible (as with nearly all cable/sky boxes), so I had to buy an RGB to Video converter like this one:-

You should be able to find these for £20-£25.

well this is my cunning plan - i'm trying to avoid buying a dedicated tv card at this point.... :D

i''ll report back with how i get on. i was hoping to get the x1950pro tomorrow but it looks like i might have to wait until saturday now.... :(

if the vcr has a dedicated s-video out(which it will only have if the vcr support svhs), then its simply a matter of hooking up the svid cable that comes with the card to the vivo lead that also comes with the card, no wacky converters. if no svid connector exists, its highly unlikely youll get svideo from the scart. theres always the composite fall back option which will likely need need a scart to composite lead that plugs into the svid to composite connector which also comes with the card.

all the above is the easy part however, finding and setting up the software which is 100% compatable is the hard part in comparison ;)
