Hi all

I've got a Wharfedale Diamond 10.CS centre, which is 20cm tall and I'm finding it very hard to find a suitable TV stand to accommodate it on the upper shelf (not on the top surface).

I'm currently perching my centre on the top of a cheapo glass stand and my TV is mounted on the wall. However I'm looking for a better-looking solution and smarter / classier looking TV stand.

Any recommendations please? Budget is c.£500, I can be flexible for something good!

At this rate I'm tempted to try and build my own (which could end badly).

Cheers.

Could try Eatsleeplive.co.uk, when I was looking into alternatives to our Blok stand they were very good and would let me specify shelf depths on some of their TV stands. Pricing would depend on how big you needed it but they definitely have some available under £500.

Cheers guys.

That eatsleeplive looks good, could possibly have a crack at that style myself, love the rustic style though.

BDI stuff looks lovely, but incredibly I couldn't find a single unit with a top shelf tall enough for a centre speaker.

Nice. Good price, I was hoping for something with wood though.

I bought one from Richer Sounds - http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv-stands/ttap/elegance-1200/ttap-elegance-1200.

TTAP Elegance 1200.

Excuse the mess and poor picture, gives you an idea.

Brilliant, thanks for posting that. It looks ideal at first glance. Is there any chance you could let me know the height of the section your centre speaker is in please?

It's 166mm. There's at least 20mm of clearance left according to my untrained eye. Will measure it tomorrow if you need.

Very happy with the stand and price, build quality is great too.

Excuse the old crappy phone pic. Had this a year now, and very happy with it. Really struggled to find a nicely made solid wood unit that would hold a decent center speaker. In the end chanced upon this.

Retails at over a grand but can be had for a lot less. I really dropped on, a store I was looking at had a store on the bay, they would stick one up for auction each month. Managed to bag it for under £200. Its huge, and built like a tank, finish is pretty damn good as well. Think they are still around if you search for "kentucky large tv unit" you should find it.

I got Chunky Monkey to build mine as I'm anal and wanted a matched front 3 with vertical centre:

Had it stained in a medium finish. They make all their stuff from reclaimed pine and there is/was a big AVForums thread on them. Got more shelves on it now as I had them drill holes for the eyelets - can do either four single height (for stuff like BDPs) or leave ones out for double height stuff like an AVR. Can't remember what it cost but pretty sure it was under £500.

I'd still aim for a cantilever style stand, this will ensure you have plenty of room for a centre and your equipment.

Perhaps something like this?

Not sure what that gets me over my current arrangement of the tv bolted to the wall really, in fact I think TV on the wall looks neater tbh. I'll take a pic of my setup later to put it in context.

If you could let me know the precise total vertical space available on the upper shelf please, that would be much appreciated. It looks like a good option all things considered.

Thanks for the rest of the replies. Custom or self-built is a tempting option, just need to find a style I like.

I suppose I could always sell my centre for one that will fit in a shorter gap!
