Tversity vs. Transcode 360

Im currently experimenting with transcode 360 and Tversity for divx/xvid playback on my 360. Have a few questions:

1.Can either of these fast forward or rewind once the transcoding process is done? Transcode seems to have some sort of fast forward function when i pull the right trigger of my controller(rewinds when I pull the left) but its more of a skipping action and needs to be repeatedly pulled.

2.Where is the transcoded file for Tversity stored?

Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated.

I use transcode 360, I have the media remote though so I get full control over media playback.

Haven't tried TVersity but I can highly recommend Transcode - the only 2 issues I have with it right now are;

1) Can't get subtitles to display (they work on my PC).
2) Still get jumps in the stream, have to pause and press play again. (I have wireless but it's N and I get a constant 270Mbs)

I could never get tversity to work, whereas TC360 just does.

The right trigger is skip forward, but it's a bit hit and miss, even iff the whole file is transcoded. Some seem to work perfectly, some will skip forwards or even backwards randomly.

The right bumper is fast forward speeds for wmvs, and it seems to work fine but only for wmv. I haven't gotten it to FF through any other format.

So we're stuck with the right trigger skip for now, afaik, but better than nothing.

Couldn't get TVersity to work, and my rig is pretty pants so doubt it would have worked too well either. I did install Transcode360 the other day and it rocks. Before I was having to reencode files to WMV, but now i can do it on the fly. Perfect!

Am I missing something?
Installed transcode360 - I can see it in the services list, my Xbox'es m,edia centre now has some folder called transcode buffer, but it still won't play Jack S

Edit: is this JUSt for Divx, or does Xvid etc also work?

Goto your movie file you wish to play, and hit the info button on your 360 remote. Then select Transcode and you're away.

Transcode imo is the better option for me. Its not fiddly and runs as a service in the background, so its always there when I need it.

Yep, or if you're using a controller select the file, press 'X', then 'More...' and Transcode from there.

A vote for Transcode360 from me too, I tried TVersity but couldn't make any headway with it.
Transcode was like Ronseal - "Does exactly what it says on the tin".

:)

has anyone had any look getting transcode 360 to work in vista? I'm using tversity but no forward/rewind function is peeing me off.

afaik, transcode 360 only ran on Vista? I first stumbled across it when vista came out anyway. I think it's specifically written with vista in mind now, been a while since I looked at the website.

I had it running on Media Centre (only form of XP it will run on i think) and now on Vista Ultimate. The FF / RW thing is bloody annoying though for anything non WMV even if you have the remote. You can only scene skip rather then speed up and as said before it's a bit hit and miss and sometimes doesnt let you skip forward even though it's all transcoded already. Also Vista seems to have a problem with media player and skipping, did some reading into this and apparently it happens even without running Transcode.

Well ive been using transcode 360 for a while so decided to give tversity a try, i couldnt get it to work until i realised you had to install ffdshow...go figure  (no mention of that anywhere). Apparently once Tversity transcodes it allows you to rewind and fast forward any format. Not the case as everytime I tried it never worked and unlike Transcode 360 it retranscodes the file each time you start it.

been using tversity but i wont to use transcode 360 but i got problems with 360 it wont transcode my avi files the only files it seems to transcode is .iso files i have no idea why this is and its under vista ultimate. all codecs installed etc but i did notice that media player can play all no probs but under windows media centre avi`s wont play very strange :s

I've been using tversity the last couple of days and i can get it to stream music and pictures to my 360 fine, however no such luck with movies. I simply get an error this file format is not supported and when i go to my pc the mediaserver has crashed, the files are definitely in wmv format so im not sure what the problem is.
