TVR in trouble

If it is the case that they don't have as many order's in the book, I reckon it's because they have tried to make them... to reliable!?!

Part of the TVR apeal is that it's 50/50 it will break down in use, following the 50/50 that it will actually start, following the 50/50 that it's actually not in Blackpool being repaired!
With Moleenskivodkahat fixing all the problems & the owners being able to actually drive the cars, people are realising that they are a touch to lairy & word is spreading hurting sales!

Right, back to the Smirnof, Borsch.

Although I have to admit that I have been tempted to just buy a cheapish Chimaera (say £15k) and then keep the remainder of my budget (£5k) for repairs.

You could probably run it for a year or so on that, baring any major issues :D

If you do buy one, see if you can get a warranty...you'll definately use it.

Another blow to UK car manufacturing. At the rate we are going, we’ll soon have no car production in the UK, despite a senior at Rolls Royce stating the UK is still strong with car production.

Mind you, with the spend, spend, spend and spend some more nature of the government over the past years, and now tax, tax, tax, and tax much much more following these years, no one has as much spare cash to spend anymore. It even hits the wealthy, as they will certainly look to tighten up, we all do as goods become more expensive, and outgoings increase.

Plus with exports from the UK costing so much, its little wonder why we are now struggling. Sad to hear more job looses, but with Peugeot, Rover, Jaguar and now TVR, this isn’t the end.

is it really uk manufacturing declining or just the crappy/non profitable car companies disappearing, we do have honda, nissan and toyota after all and I dont think they are, especially toyota, going anywhere.

Don't kid yourself. Those manufacturers would love their UK plants to be in the 'new' EU states where labour costs are far lower but the workforce is as well educated as it is in the UK. Their problem is that moving production to those countries would be high - redundancy in the UK plus start-up costs in the new country.

However I think over time production will shift to those countries and eventually we'll see Nissan, Toyota and Honda close their UK plants. The bottom line is mass manufacturing is too expensive in the UK.

That's what stops me buying one. I've read some real horror stories on Pistonheads. Some people have spent tens of thousands on repairs/engine rebuilds etc. :(

I looked into the warranty thing but it looks like most warranty companies are pretty smart and good TVR warranties are few and far between. I saw one company however that had a really good warranty, problem was that their cars were all £5k more than everyone elses!
