Why aren't the cup finals held at Twickenham rather than the Millenium Stadium.

It's bigger and closer to everywhere since its in England !

The goals are the wrong shape :p

Plus Twickenham has been undergoing development periodically over the last few years hasn't it?

You mean London, Cardiff is much better for the Northern teams, heck they are there every year :p

Its not from personal experience, but I'm sure I read that it was at least partly due to poor transport links/road system in the vicinity.

Having said that they got 82,000 in there today without too much incident.

I think there is an agreement that Twickenham can only have so many top line events in a year and the FA cup would cause problems with that agreement

They let the Challenge Cup Final be played at Twickenham because, even if they are Northern Whippet Owning Monkeys, League fans are "our sort of people" unlike those Phootball yobbos :D

Honestly though I guess its a licensing thing, the Twickenham facilities aren't designed to seperate the crowds. The sad thing is it's so necessary in football and not in rugby.

It generally isn't in football either. Anyway at the FA Cup final you ALWAYS mix with the other fans outside the ground :)

Well when I lived in Cardiff the fans took different motorway exits, parked in different parts of town, were funnelled to different entrances and in the areas where they could concievably mix the cops were in force like you wouldn't believe. Only been to Wembley once for a footy match 4th division play offs and the fans did mix without problems then, but their weren't that many of them.
Where as at Twickenham you could stand at the bar next to opposition fans buy a beer and walk out to your seat with it.

The only reason you are forced to differnt car parks is to make your escape for Cardiff quicker. Not that it is! All the finals I have been to in Cardiff (I've been there 4 times (3 finals, 1 semi)) we have been with the other fans all the time :) With no more police than normal. :)

Heck the FA cup final has mixed seating;)

In all the games I've been too I've never seen any trouble.

Richmond Council won't allow the RFU to stage Football matches at Twickenham because they claim there would be increased Policing costs that the extra money from the RFU would not cover and the difficulty of moving rival fan groups in and out of the Train station (It's the worst most overcongested station I've ever been to on match days) along with a percieved possibility of trouble (because every footy match is hooligan ridden isn't it  -/that was sarcasm) from fan elemnts. The RFU have been applying to stage major football games for years. There is signs however that Richmond Council could be budging, particularly in respect of any World Cup bid.
