Hi

I know there is another thread about Twin Peaks around here somewhere but that one is about thoughts after watching the show, this one is just talking about it with strictly no spoilers or plot details.

Just ordered the Gold Box, been waiting to pick this up for a while now and hoping the price would change but it never has so just decided to go for it. I also bought the film aswell, Fire Walk with Me (which I know you should only watch after you have seen the full series).

What are peoples opinions of it? What can I expect? I'm a big fan of David Lynch which is the main reason for the buy, but it also sounds like a fantastic eerie/mysterious show aswell.

Also, when I get addicted to TV shows I tend to just blast through them in a few days, is Twin Peaks something I should watch gradually, like one or two episodes a day?

Please keep the spoilers out though, no plot details or anything like that.

Thanks,
D3

Where do I start?

Twin Peaks is very possibly my favourite TV series of all time, it's just incredible.

If you're a fan of Lynch then you can see traits of his later film work all over this, and you'll lap it up.

The way the story develops and becomes more entangled and intricate is masterful. There's a subtle mix of dark humour and very dark, unnerving atmosphere that makes it quite unlike anything I've ever watched.

It's certainly not to everyone's tastes and many will say it's too weird or silly, but I love it. See if you can manage to string it out as it's a shame when you've finished it, but it's that good that you'll be up til 3am most nights wanting to know what happens next.

I've watched it through from start to finish three times in the last 10 years and I may now go and do so again...

I enjoyed its weirdness, saw it in the early 90's.... They even made a film to try to explain it..lol
watch with a hot cup of Coffee and a piece of blueberry pie.....

Diane, I've arrived in the Overclockers.co.uk Twin Peaks thread. I just ate the most delicious orange. It was sweet, juicy, and utterly divine, but now my hands are sticky. There are drawbacks to every please, Diane.

But yeah. Twin Peaks tends to be something you either "get" or you don't. It's utterly unique, and I'd have to say it's one of my most memorable TV experiences. The music and camerawork create a sort of atmosphere that you don't often find in TV. The characters and plot are weird and wonderful as well.

My favourite scenes are the dream sequences. Watch out for them.

I'd say the first season is nigh-on perfect. The second season is extremely patchy with a lot of terrible episodes, but some fantastic ones as well. It usually depends on how much involvement Lynch had with each episode.

If you watch much modern TV you'll probably recognise quite a few of the actors in the series: they've tended to get around.

Ok, so I'm kinda bringing up an old'ish topic here but I have seven episodes of the show left to watch, everything so far has been superb and it is hands down my favourite television series of all time. People say that season two goes downhill but I can't point out a single problem with it, every single episode since the pilot has had me gripped. I've been trying to spread out the viewing but I find myself watching it in big chunks, like I will watch 4 or so episodes then not watch anything for a week or so, I mean, I've had nothing better to do today so ended up watching eight(!) episodes, but it's just that damn addictive (but probably overkill).

But yeah, fantastic show, can't find any faults and just everything about it is superb. I'll post again once I've finished watching with my final thoughts, although I also have the film to watch aswell.

Thanks.

A brilliant tv series (although I did think it kind of lost its way a bit towards the end).

The missus and I used to sit and watch every week when it was first shown. Was all the better because it had Sherilyn Fenn in it who was extremely hot back then.

One thing that I will always remember about that show was its music, it had utterly fantastic music. Even now the title tune is one of my favourite pieces of tv music

Ok, just finished the show, the last episode was mind blowing, yet very confusing. But the end scenes, whoa!
Crazy stuff, superb stuff, just completely awesome. Definitely my favourite show of all time, it cannot be beaten. That ending though, just wow.
