Do any of you use twitter?

I have not been using it to date. I do have a twitter account which I must have set up about a year ago to enter a competition. I have a twitter app on my iPhone and was having a bit of a browse today, and it didn't seem so bad, so I was thinking I might start using it.

When you hear about twitter it tends to be in relation to banal comments by backslapping celebrities, and I think this is what put me me off. However I am guessing it does have it's uses?

Those of you who do use it, what do you use it for? Who do you follow?

Could you recommend me a decent twitter client for pc, and iPhone?

I do and it's the same as face book, you can use it how you want. Either for good reasons or you can join in the rubbish.

I use twitter to keep upto date with f1, technology, a few pc games I'm interested in and one or two other things(like pieminister in bristol) But mainly f1, tweeted about 5 times and most of them are for competitions.

If somebody does just tweet dull, uninteresting things about toast or whatever then don't follow them. Simple.
So this

Dunno really. I prefer to read in-depth about things that I'm interested in, say a select few computer games like Skillmister has mentioned and I use deviantART to follow amateur artists and Soundclick to follow amateur musicians (yeah I find more material that I like through unsigned artists). As for tweets and journal, again, I prefer more in-depth, so I write paragraphs and pages and send to a few close people / family.

I usually find Twitter ends up being for rich people to tell you how rich they are.. the other half on the other hand loves it lol

Was just about to start this thread, great minds think alike and all that :p:D

I started my account yesterday and have no idea what to use it for or who to follow.

If anyone has some recommendations that would be grand :). I'm interested in cars games and pretty much anything electrical lol.

I tried to get into it but I find the interface rubbish and the info on subjects I'm interested in so limiting. I followed a few people for f1 and f1 tech but found it so much better to just browse their websites instead.

The whole celebrity aspect bores me.

following f1onkinegame it's a browser based f1 management game which looks unreal and FXI candy cotton pc on a stick.

I was a skeptic for a long time, but I've started to follow some interesting folk and it's quite enlightening, as well as being totally up-to-date, sometimes to within a minute for things to get out there.

I used it to my advantage to get some tickets for an event when the organiser's website crashed, and the event was fantastic. Would never of had that experience otherwise. I occasionally spam some of my reviews on there as well, for those people who are following me.

I don't personally use twitter but my python script does

It's funny, look at the mentions and you will see how mad some people are. Thank god I don't use it seriously. Also I have people asking who I am, it's quite hilarious that people can't register that it's just a bot.

I use mine as I was going to do a website for football (wimbledon fan site). Never launched it, but now I just follow general football feeds, then some tech streams, rumours, NHS, ones.. basically whatever interests me and where they dont spam twitter with nonsense.

I tweet occassionally just general comments, rarely anything interesting, although I somehow have 65 followers (I guess because they think there's a website coming :P)

Never really seen the point in it, I don't think there's anything or anyone I need to know the latest news about the second it becomes available. The only thing I can think it could be useful for is letting me know when event tickets become available but I tend to get emailed about that anyway.
