1) Can anybody answer whether the stock Intel cooler from the first generation i3 is the same as the one supplied with the first gen i5? In other words, can I use an i3 stock cooler on an i5 chip?

2) Can somebody confirm whether the Corsair H50-1 will fit the 1155 socket? The box doesn't list it, presumably because it didn't exist when I bought it for my 1156 board, but I've heard reports of it fitting with a bit of modification.

1) yes it looked same only difference on mine was i5 had copper contact plate and i3 had alluminium/silver contact plate

2) have you checked Corsair's forum they are very informative.

It maybe the whole core of the heatsink which is made of different metals, though I'm not sure.

I read somewhere that on Intel's LGA 775 CPU's the single core retails chips shipped with an aluminium core & the duo/quads shipped with a copper core.
