Hi all,

Having recently just installed a new SSD, formatting my two drives, and reinstalling Windows, I now can't get online.

The on board LAN isn't picking up in Windows and the device is showing as unknown ethernet connection under device manager.

Trying to install the driver greets me with an error prompt mentioning something about deep sleep?

This also seems to be the case with the sound. I've noticed the LED light on Ethernet port is not flashing.

Any ideas? Specs in signature.

Just to offer some clarity, I had this issue when I took out my old smaller ssd and tried to install on the new larger drive. I reverted back to my original ssd and the LAN was fine again.

Now I've connected both drives and formatted entirely, it's not picking back up.

Had a quick search online and found this.

Prevent the Ethernet adapter from deep sleep.

Go to Start > Click Control Panel
Choose System and Security
Click Device Manager (under System)
Open Network Controller properties by:
Double-click Network adapters to expand it
Double-click the Realtek Network Controller
Turn off Deep Sleep mode by:
Choose the Power Management tab
Untick “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

You may have to reset CMOS and load optimised defaults first.

First question is, have you got the correct and newest motherboard drivers? Make sure it's the right version i.e. Asus H61M-PRO and Asus H61M-PRO-USB3 might have different drivers. I'd usually find Windows can use generic drivers for LAN!

Motherboard drivers were up to date, also tried flashing via usb but kept getting a prompt about nothing being found in the root drive (brand new usb).

Sadly the suggestion above doesn't work as it recognizes no network adaptor whatsoever

So its not listed in Device Manager at all ??

Actually why are you "flashing" something (BIOS?) when its an onboard network device that is the issue ?

ah is this why ?

BIOS 1.B
- Improved AMD Graphic card compatibility.
- Improved memory compatibility.
- Support PSC B-die DDR3 Memory
- Fixed Realtek lan still can work after disable "Onboard LAN Controller" in BIOS.
- Updated VBIOS and GOP Driver.
- Hide item "IGD Multi-Monitor" when "Initiate Graphic Adapter" set to IGD.

What OS is it ? Suggests its turned off in the BIOS or its faulty.

In the meantime pickup one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dynamode-usb3.0-to-rj45-gigabit-network-adaptor-cb-004-dn.html
come in handy even if you solve the issue.

Well it's listed as unknown Ethernet adaptor with a yellow question mark besides it. I also think it's the same problem with the sound. But if I go to network adaptor there's nothing listed at all.

It's really strange, as i mentioned in first post, when I had the problem initially, I switched back in my initial ssd when it still had Windows installed, and it worked fine again. Now I've formatted everything it doesn't want to know.

I've also reset bios setting by shorting the jumpers to no avail. Might just have to wing it for now with usb connection as suggested.

You could boot into a live Linux environment and if it works, you know the issue with software and Windows. Is there a driver installed on the unknown network adapter's properties page?
