if he is worth paying he will teach you to drive on any road and give you the confidence to drive in an area which may be unfamiliar.

Actually no, most people need more lessons if they go 1 hour at a time, thats most people mind not eveyone.

Time this least time and cost to pass test attitude went, Its about being able to drive safely, not just pass a test, theres a world of difference.

Hands up anyone here that asks for the cheapest quickest health and safety course at work to operate XXX dangerous machine etc?

You guys do realise that if you get it wrong driving can kill you? Why is it you'll spend ££££££'s on the car and insurance etc but not 1p more than the absolute minimum on the training to use it properly?

IS good training not an investment in yourself?
Do you mean more in terms of hours or in terms of number of lessons? I think I had 20 something 2 hour lessons. Say 25 for arguments sake, so thats 50 hours  By your recconing I would have needed more than 50 lessons if I had 1 hour lessons? Personally I thing probably mid thirties and I'd have been there.

From a driving instructors point of view you are going to say that. From Joe Bloggs who's 17, at college and only works on a Saturday, and feels that he needs to get his own transport before he can ge t a full time job- time and cost is a huge factor. I waited for the nod from my instructor before going for my test so I'd hope that she felt I was up to driving by myself.

If people are passing tests when they aren't up to the required standard then thats an issue for instructors and examiners surely?
