Two NVMe drives for new build?

Planning out a new full build I'll be doing soon.

It's probably going to have a MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk motherboard and to maximise space for games I was thinking of getting a better 1TB NVMe drive (prob WD SN850X) to go in the fastest slot which I'll stick all the games on and then a slighter slower and smaller (but cheaper!) 500GB (maybe Crucial P5P) to go in a slower slot that I use as a boot drive.

My theory is that Windows will still start quickly and desktop apps will be as fast as they can on the slower drive which then saves the faster drive for games.

Is that a good idea and worth the extra spend?

Ah useful to know about the value on sizes.

Re: slots my plan was to put the drive for games in the one connected to the CPU, just for any extra benefits that would come from that whilst also presuming that wouldn't impact the OS too much.
