First things first I'll give you my specs before I go any further.

Antec 300
Asus p5q-e
Hd 4870 512mb
[email protected]
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro
4gb ocz pc2-6400
OCZ 780w ModXStream
Samsung F1 320gb

Anyway, I built the above spec about a year ago and now I'm getting the itch for an upgrade. I'd like to do the upgrade in two stages, firstly geting a new case, gfx card, hsf and psu. Then once the cpu market settles a little bit I'd get a new mobo, cpu and ram.

I use the pc for gaming, surfing the web, watching movies, all the usual stuff.
For the first part of the upgrade I'd like:

Silverstone Fortress FT01
Nvidia GTX 275
Looking to spend about £45 on a heatsink
And about £100 on a psu.

This is just what I think, so any advice on better components would be greatly appreciated. And has anyone ever had any issues doing an upgrade like this e.g. computer not booting up or something like that?

you'd be completely wasting your money
case maybe but other than that hold out til new generation of gfx cards and i5 are out, 6 months (isH) sit tight lol

Case would be a good upgrade from the 300, i just got a titan fenrir on this weeks special, great cooler, cant see why you want to upgrade the psu as the one you got is good and i would wait for the new ati cards before upgrading your graphics.

It really is the wrong time to be upgrading your graphics card as the new dx 11 cards will be released soon. Ive just upgraded from a E8300 @ 4Ghz to an i7 920 @ 4Ghz.

The PC Power and Cooling 750 Watt is probebly one of the best power supply's for around the £100 mark.

He already has a 780watt modular.
