Ok so theres two seperate issues I can't get my head around:

1) When I installed XP, I made a 20gb partition to install on, but I forgot to make the rest of the space into a partition, so that disk (500gb) is only showing up as 20, is there anyway I can create the rest of the space with a (freeware) utility?

2) My other disk, full of my lifes music collection (Storage), was plugged in when installing XP (foolish I know), and now it says the disk isn't formated, and I'm sure at no point I formated it in the XP installation, and I need to know how to get my data from it :( but I'm really worried i've lost all my music which took years to build up.

1) Why use freeware when windows will do it for you. Right click on my computer & pick manage, select disk management in the new window. You should be presented with a graphical view of your drives, the one whch has XP on it should have a huge chunk of unallocated space, right click in there and create and format a new partition.

2a) While you're in Disk Management right click on the grey bit of the stripe for the second disk and see if there's an option to import a foreign dynamic disk. If there is click on it and all should be well.

2b) Worried about losing stuff? That's what backups are for.
