Two tone BB gun

Sorry, if this takes it a bit off topic...

Is there a way to get a UKARA licence without skirmishing?
By all means i'm happy to join a club and shoot down a range at targets/badgers etc... but without sounding like a complete ninny muggins, the thought of being shot at isn't great.

I would just like a collection of realistic looking guns without having to go out every month or so and getting shot at. Im not looking for loopholes or anything, but it seems a bit narrow if the only way to obtain one is to actively shoot people.

You sir may be of use to me.

I am after getting hold of an airsoft sniper and am kind of stumped on what to get. Spring, not gas. Site limit of 500fps. Dont have loads of cash to splash so looking max of £150ish. Is that even possible these days?

Long story short looking to get back into it (taking some kids we look after every now any then who go regularly) And kind of feel like using a sniper this time around. Had a JG full metal M4 before which was pretty decent.

any off the top suggestions?

You'll have real trouble getting a decent spring sniper rifle for that sort of coin, but it can be done.

Find one of the VSR-clone rifles (as opposed to the less upgradeable APS-clone rifles), then upgrade it with the cheap parts that you can get from Airsoft Sniper Parts UK, they are pretty much the only guys who have decent sniper upgrade parts that don't cost the earth.

Most important upgrades are the trigger and piston, ASPUK happen to sell an excellent trigger and piston as a set, regrettably, they are out of stock at the moment, so I'd give 'em an email. Feel free to ask their advice, they're really nice chaps.

Firstly, UKARA is not a license. It is what shops accept as a valid defense to purchase a non 2-toned airsoft pistol or rifle from them. You don't need UKARA for 2-tone.

Some shops will sell you the non 2-toned airsoft weapons without having a UKARA registration if you are a member at their site (which usually means playing one game at least and signing up).

There is loads of advice out there on this. Your actual defense comes from having a site membership, UKARA registration just allows you to buy from shops as it is the recognised scheme.

Problem is a lot of the 500fps (well around 380-450 stock or with the internals tweeked) £150 rifles may shoot through a can at 10 feet but probably won't hit a barn door at 50 feet. Whereas a £140 G&G Combat Machine AEG with Blowback GR16 Carbine @ 330-350 fps variant will be pretty accurate up to its full range.

Honestly, you will have more fun with this, albeit you need batteries and a charger as well but they hold 450 rounds and you can still single shot.

I sold all my kit last year but I had one and it was by far my favourite.

I must admit I don't really get the skirmish thing. From an outsider how does it work?

I can see how paintball works as it leaves something behind to show you have been hit.

What is the objective of an airsoft skirmish?

It does work on a trust system and the good sites are well marshaled by marshals and indeed the players.

However, it hurts and you can usually see people flinch. Within 30-50 feet it will leave quite a welt if hit in an exposed area even through light/medium padding.

Close up hits can and will break the skin. With the better rifles, being hit at 70-100 feet still really hurts. On sites / games which allow full auto (some only allow semi/single shot) you can be hit with 10's even 100's of rounds in a few seconds if you end up in the wrong place at the wrong time against a group.
