Will they work together or do you need a slave instead of one of the masters?

If you can have 2 masters, will this be better than 1 master, 1 slave?

AnandTech pointed out that 1950xfire masters were the same price as non mastera, and that ATI said they would work together. Therefore they recommended that better idea to buy to masters.

I was wondering, therefore, whether 2 1900 masters was allowable @£224, rather than a £224 master and an xtx at £250.

Just get the Master card and then a 'regular' 1900XT - no sense getting an XT-X as the card will run at same spec as Master

The XTX will run at XTX speeds not the masters when in xfire.

Yeah, thats right, both cards will run at there individual clocks. Is it therefore possible to run an X1950XT-X mastercard with an X1900XTX?

Thanks mate.Due to the pricing of the X1950 master,i'll still probably go for the X1900 master, but thanks for the info. :)

I don't blame yer, who in their right mind would pay £328 for a master card to be paired with another card that costs about £170-£246, i would'nt touch crossfire till R600, master card idea was a joke, you have to get a specific master, and it costs more than the slave, no thanks, wait for R600 where you can pair any cards, same price just like SLi, master card idea was only done because they had to get something out quick to compete with SLi.

I agree with what you're saying loadsa,it's just this 2407 Dell of mine needs as much pixel pushing power as possible,I wouldn't touch the X1950 master,it's stupidly priced as you say.But the X1900 master at £250 seems reasonable, especially considering the DFI crossfire motherboard I've had my eye on(CFX3200 RD-580) has now dropped over 100 quid in price to around £76.

All that considered,I could have a Xfire set up for an outlay of around £330+ delivery.I could wait for R600 but how long is that likely to be? What d'you reckon, still a bad idea?
