TWOC advice please...

My sister has taken my car without my consent. I foolishly left the keys lying around so she has apparently taken the car. Would I get anywhere by calling the police and reporting it?

She could be away for days, and I would not put it past her even to sell the car or something equally stupid. I really do need it back, so what would be the best solution?

To be fair, if you think she might sell it, call the cop shop. Has to be asked though, why do you think your sister will sell your car? Drug addict or mental disorder?

I suspect the first one. Her 'bf' has just gone down for dealing so she probably needs money.

Can I not just report it with the number plate so it'd get pulled over if a cop saw it? Hopefully they should bump into it sometime soon, tell her off, and ring me telling me where to pick it up from. Or is it not that simple?

I would have thought the cops would want to charge her, if you have reported it stolen.

I don't know where the line is between stolen and taken without consent you see.

Sadly she's insured on it (God kows why I didn't take her off a while ago), and it's taxed etc. I don't want to be done for wasting police time or something though.

Also, charging her would be no bad thing, I would be all for them giving her a boot up the arse.

Phone them, report it and explain the situation clearly. Lots of Roads Police Units have ANPR now so it's becoming more likely that cars that would be of 'interest' to the police are found. All she needs to do is drive past an ANPR-equipped van, police car or camera and it'll find the car.

Ok, that sounds like a good idea. I might wait a couple of hours, see if she decides to come home, and if not I'll call them. Pain in the ass this is :mad:

I remember reading a thread about a a 16 year old lad that took his brothers C2 for a spin. The lads girlfriend was with him, he lost control of the vehicle and rolled it 3 times down a railway embankment.

They got out unscathed.......as the vehicle was reported TWOC, the police were going to charge the lad of TWOC.

I think they just did him for driving without a license & insurance in the end.

Definitely talk to the police about it but I'd stop short of reporting it stolen unless you intend to press charges when she's caught. The police won't take kindly to you using a declaration of theft to just get the car back and nothing more.

I don't think theres guna be any love lost if the OP reports it stolen and the sister gets in trouble with the law, she sounds like she could do with a wake up call.
