Tycoon Games - Where have they gone?

I'd be interested to know what people really dislike about RCT 3.

The UI and bugs! I spent a whole night trying to lay a path to my coaster. The game seemed to lay one continuous path but it actually laid loads of different separated paths.

Making a building was so slow and so difficult to edit and change it. I previously played The Sims 2 and it was so easy and fun. The process in RCT3 seemed was so slow and tortuous by comparisons

I recall in the zoo expansion the peeps kept on clipping into the cages and getting stuck. You had to continuously rescue them. That got old real fast.

Also, didn't like any of the scenarios built in. I downloaded a loads of the original scenarios and started rebuild my old park until the bugs and horrible UI got me

Finally, it had a whole deja-vu fell. Having played the original to death doing it all again but in 3D wasn’t enough for get over the said bugs and UI.

Stupid crap thread. Read it and thought I'd fire up Locomotion (Effectively Transport Tycoon 2) again for a quick game.

8 hours later..

I really wish they made RCT2 with updated graphics.

RCT3 was such a let down.

3D ruined it all.

Here I was thinking I was the only one.

Transport 2 Tycoon, used to have to launch it through some kind of MS DOS window, then type in the codes because my version wouldn't start properly straight out of the box. I think I still have it somewhere, but it doesn't work at all anymore.

I had it on XP too, need to try and get it on Vista, it's still fun now :D

RCT was awesome too, I didn't like any of the sequals though :(

I've now lost 20 hours and my neck hurts from the really awkward pose I always adopt when concentrating on placing track ://

I never really got on with Locomotion... It seemed to make it worse by going '3D', I used to spend hours on Transport Tycoon, even more so with OpenTTD because of the bigger maps... Locomotion is just 'meh' in comparison!

I used to play Railway tycoon 1&2 a lot, RT3 just spoiled it for me. I used to play a game which for the life of me i can not remember the game. You used land, air and sea to transport your goods you owned factories, shops fast food joints produced lumber to steal to end product items like cars and furniture. I was hooked on it.

Rollercoaster tycoon 1/2 and all expansions, Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Jurassic Park, Zoo Tycoon and Railroad tycoon have eaten considerable days out of my life.

To be honest they were some of my favourite gaming moments too.

TTD is better but I've got too used to variable radious curves, overhead stations and underground :(
